The Final Word (Written by Saint)How did the Saints get on in their last game? The Saints drew 1-1 away at Arlesey last weekend. City had the best of the opening exchanges but fell behind on 18 minutes when Drew Broughton, who was making his debut, slotted home Chris Marshes' ball across the area. The first-half soon petered out, but City came out after half-time with renewed impetus. Unfortunately, although St Albans pushed forward, several chances to pull level were wasted. As the game entered injury time, the Saints finally got the goal that their play had deserved when Newton turned home Lansiquot's cross to score his first for the club. www.hertsad.co.uk/sport/football/newton_leaves_it_late_as_city_salvage_a_point_1_1214027What did David Howell have to say about it?Howell was disappointed with the result against Arlesey Town. He felt that the team were leg weary and that they defensively struggled. The manager was extremely critical of the back four and said that defensively it wasn't one of our best performances. The game was far too open, the Saints boss said. He was also critical of his forwards, Sakho Bakare and Simon Martin. To get a goal in the last minute was the one positive, said Howell, because the side just kept trying and didn't give up. The wind was difficult and the boss felt that Arlesey set up their stall and attempted to counter us. He said that our players have to be able to deal with that and explained that he felt we didn't manage to do so. Howell was also very critical of the set pieces by his side during this match. Howell's full interview can be heard on the official site here: www.sacfc.co.uk/index.php/news/-manager-interview/1844-howell-it-looked-like-it-wasnt-going-to-be-our-day.htmlHis interview can be read on the St Albans & Harpenden Review site here: www.stalbansreview.co.uk/sport/localsport/9543505.Saints_boss_ready_to_drop_players/How are Frome Town getting on this season? The Robins drew a blank at home to Hitchin Town last Saturday. The home side missed several good chances, especially in the first half. Frome Town currently sit in 12th position in the table, with 37 points from 29 games, 5 points behind the Saints. Finally:So will City get back to winning ways on Saturday? Or will the Robins fly off with the points? Get involved in the pre- and post-match discussion in the thread below.

The City Archives - Arsenal, 1956[/u]
We have a new feature to place alongside our previews this season, as one of Saints Chat's regular posters, Brummie, delves into the history books to provide us with match reports from the past. This gives a chance to walk down memory lane, or learn a little about City's past, before the next match in the present!
This time, Brummie has given us a typed report of a cup match against Arsenal in 1956. Over to Brummie for the details!
Thanks, as always, go to Brummie for delving into the City Archives to provide us with an interesting read alongside our usual match previews!

Sorry Aries. Blame D. It was supposed to be Arsenal. Its was actually their 3rd team from the old Metropolitan League.

Wonder who that is ? I'm sure we'll find out from the 16 players named on the the teamsheet.
Mr Howell also said: 'Frome T have drawn 6 of their last 8 matches & are 5 points behind us with a game in hand. We must try to stay in touch with the top teams..'

From the Frome Town updates '30 half an hour gone and St Albans look solid. Frome struggling with what appear to be bigger and sharper opposition'

Still feel if we don't get a second before too long that the prediction of 1-1 may come true.

FT 1-0
'Has to be said Frome a little unlucky in the end not to get a point, but a very good display from St Albans, first to everything.'
