Reserves go down at Clarence Park (link to the official homepage article) I see the reserves lost 1-0 at home last night to Enfield Town Reserves. Here was the team: St Albans City Reserves - D.Margott, B.Adams, A.Chaves, L.Jackaman (A.Reid 59), J.Lamonaca, J.Tidd, B.Spaul (H.Wheeler 46), D.Johnson, R.Baronet, R.Logon (S.Perrin 63), G.Kweme. Here is a link to the league table: Capital Football League Tables - Central Division 09/10I notice that at the end of the report on the official site, it suggests that the reserves are going to withdraw from the Capital League next season. Does anyone know why this is and if the reserves intend to play any competitive fixtures next season (perhaps in a different league)?

Does anyone know why this is and if the reserves intend to play any competitive fixtures next season (perhaps in a different league)? .. or is this another cost cutting exercise by the chairman / board ? If we can't afford to pay experienced 'connie south' players, we are going to need to bring through young players and the reserves is a vital stepping stone into the first team.

It was announced a few weeks ago that we were withdrawing from the capital league, plenty of other reserve leagues about or maybe we just aren't bothering, it's happened before

The official website will have news about the Reserves in due course.

The news doesn't appear to have materialised, unless the news was the match report?

Do we know if the Saints reserves team is being disbanded yet? Have the board decided to abandon reserve team football for some reason - probably money related - or is the team simply moving to a new league? Does anyone have any idea about this?

I would also like to know the thinking behind this. Maybe it is thought that that the SSML would be more competitive and that in itself would benefit our young players and prepare them better for the move up into the first team. Or maybe being registered in that league would ensure the our first team have somewhere to play in if the proverbial poo hits the fan and we have to reform at a lower level.

I can't help but feel that this has to do with all of the EuroAcademy rumours BovySaint.
First, there were the rumours that Edgware Town would be ground sharing at Clarence Park next season, playing in the SSML, and that they would be involved with EuroAcademy and bringing Brazilians into their club.
Then, it was announced that the Saints reserve side would be moving to SSML. This was shortly after the person who started the Edgware Town rumour said that his previous information was no longer valid. The St. Albans City club website has also named EuroAcademy as one of its partners (now removed). The connection is a pretty easy one to make.
Why on earth would a club struggling to support a first team at the moment decide to enrol its reserves in the pyramid? It just doesn't make sense unless something very dodgy is going on.
So, anyone going to be watching the Brazilians playing in the SSML next season?
