HOW FAR WILL YOU GO TO SUPPORT THE SAINTS? (click on the link to go to the Saints City Trust news item) Whether it’s an exotic, overseas location, a well-known local or UK venue, an unusual setting or even a celebrity-sharing moment, St Albans City fans are being invited to get a snap of themselves in their Saints garb while on their travels this summer. A 2010/11 season ticket, £50 voucher to spend at the club shop and matchday tickets are the prizes in a photo competition being run by Saints City Trust, one of several suggestions made recently by fans for raising awareness of the club and increasing attendances. The competition is open to all Saints fans and The Trust has produced a special tee-shirt for it, which will go on sale for £10 at the last home league game of the season against Woking on 17th April and afterwards via the Trust website And it’s a good time to be ordering Saints replica kit too, with prices of this season’s shirts reduced to £15 for adults and £10 for junior sizes, also from the club shop and Trust website. Entries will be published on The Trust’s Facebook page, while the winners will be selected by a panel of judges comprising of Daedalus from the ‘Saints Chat’ fans forum (who suggested the idea), club secretary Steve Eames and The Trust’s Chair Laura Graham and they will take originality, ingenuity, and potential to raise awareness and attendances into account in coming to their decision. To enter, please email your photograph to info@saintscitytrust.co.uk or post it to Saints City Trust, PO Box 1086, St Albans AL1 9RY, with your name, contact details and a caption for it. The closing date for entries is 30th July 2010 and the winners will be announced at a home league game in the following month. Look out for details of more opportunities to help in promoting the club to new and lapsed fans, as the summer progresses. Visit the Saints City Trust official website to see a sneak preview of the t-shirt design! Also, you can log on to the Trust's Facebook page by clicking here.

Excellent work from the Saints City Trust. It's great to see that they took the idea to the next level! And an excellent logo design by Gaz apparently. Personally, I can't wait to see the t-shirts! This is a great move from the Trust and I hope the fans will get behind it because it will be great fun, will promote the club and will push the club back in an upwards direction! Start planning where you will get your photograph taken!

dont know what anyone anyone else makes of this load of posionous rubbish sent by dave Tavener to some of his mates>?
Don’t suppose there will be time for any waffle after tonight’s match as we are unlikely to return very early from a far flung corner of Sussex, so here are a few bits to be getting on with. It is touch and go as to whether Peter Smith will be fit to play and with a doubt regarding Harry Wheeler’s appearance the manager could be a tad lonely on the bench. The Rooks have been out of the relegation places for just two days since mid September and a win tonight would lift them above Worcester City into 19th position. Win, lose or draw we will stay in 12th place. Any Trust members wishing to take the club out into the community, preferably the Lewes community, then admission is half price. This is due to the original match in October being abandoned. Interesting to see that the Trust is providing a coach for our final match of the season at Bath City on Saturday week. Once again, the Trust claim they are sponsoring the coach but, also once again, this is a downright lie as supporters using it will be charged £18 for the pleasure of going on a so called sponsored coach. Also the Trust ignore their Objective no.8 by stating that Trust members will have priority. No one from the Trust has yet explained or confirmed that this means a Trust member deciding early on the day of the match can book a seat on a fully booked coach while a real supporter is turfed off. Open, transparent and representative off all supporters? Interesting too to see how the Trust are frittering money away. According to a bizarre posting on their own website today supporters can win a £50 voucher to use in the club shop (presumably to help clear the overstock following negligent excessive ordering compared to sales) and also a season ticket for next season, presumably worth £200. To win these prizes a supporter has to have their photo taken anywhere in the world (doesn’t say excluding Clarence Park) whilst wearing SAC garb. A panel of three fashion gurus, only two of which can be considered as supporters given matches attended, will then decide who should win the prize. Barmy, absolutely barmy. Any other club, and indeed even ours in the past, has done this purely for fun and without the need to resort to bribery. But now we have a Trust £250 of club/supporters money can be wasted on this pitiful scheme. Is this really how members and non-members want the officers of the Trust to squander the money they spend at Clarence Park? Maybe the need to use bribery is required after the lack of support from members at recent Trust events. Along with the takings from Saturday’s raffle going to the players night out one assumes this is another example of only funding projects that are for the long term sustainability of the club. A late entrant to the Wagstaffe Simons Award has been unearthed in the form of Reserve team manager Darren Gibb. Seems like the former City centre half (one appearance on a day when the club was playing two matches simultaneously) has not picked up a single penny for running the Reserves this season. He also assists with training and helps the First team on matchdays too. It was Darren who brought JJ and Smith to the club, and received scant praise for so doing. But, as we know, the Trust wanted a paid employee rather than a selfless volunteer to get the Clubman of the Year award.

I'm speechless really Joemeek67. Personally, I think that this competition is a great idea. It's exactly the sort of thing that I wanted to see the Trust thinking about (i.e. how to promote the club with a slogan and an idea that will create a bit of a buzz amongst fans new and old!) It's a fun idea, it'll get supporters involved, it'll spread the word, create a bit of pride in the team and hopefully raise the profile of the club. Having a proper prize at the end of it adds credibility and makes the whole competition worthwhile. I don't really understand all of the negativity about the Trust sometimes. It seems to me that some people are happier criticising at a distance and yet they are the ones who complain the loudest. They seem to be purely destructive though because they appear to have no ideas of their own to contribute. It's all very dispiriting.

And this person is a Saints supporter? What utter garbage. I had heard that he sends out this sort of verbal diarrhoea after games to his little clique of so called friends, deriding just about everyone at the club and in a very derogatory way as well. Perhaps he should put his hand in his pocket and pay for the coach hire, I'm sure the Trust would welcome his help. I'm afraid these sort of individuals exist at most clubs; criticise everything yet do nothing. I wonder if he is also having his strings pulled by others.
It sounds like he is one of the very few at this club who probably want John Gibson to stay. Clearly he is very anti the Supporters Trust. What his reasoning is, I cannot imagine. Over the last few difficult months, the Trust have been the one shining light and positive thing that has happened at the club.

I've seen some of his previous works. They were forwarded to me by someone as i wasn't on his list. I can't be bothered to waste my time to read it anymore. I hear he got upset when one of the Trust's acting board didn't speak to him, and he wonders why?

Laura has kindly sent in a photograph of herself modelling the brand new 'Saints Marching Into Your Town' t-shirt: No images allowed -http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/Crouchaldinho_SACFC/IMGP3791-1.jpg I'm told that the t-shirts will be on sale tomorrow for £10. I believe that they will also be available to buy from the Saints City Trust website (although I'm not sure about the postage costs). I think the t-shirts look great and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one tomorrow.

I think that Webbo is referring to the fact that he came up with and implemented this idea before, but this need not stop it from being done again. Great minds think alike.
Perhaps you should join The Trust, Webbo or at least work with it on implementing a few more of your ideas. They are more likely to succeed this way than through the club, the way things are at the moment.

I thought it was a few individuals on here that suggested Castle for the award of clubman of the year not the trust !
The only thing worthwhile that i took out of that posting from joemeek67 is the bit about Darren Gibb at least it is out there about his work for the club.

Anyone had any good ideas for this competition yet?
I've been discussing with my wife and brother-in-law and we have came up with some good ideas, including getting photographed outside of a famous football stadium, or trying to recreate a certain Beatles album cover. ;D

Some might say it will be an improvement to me looks! Won't be able to enter it into the competition though as i'm not going to Whitby until August. Maybe i should jump into the Roman Baths wearing the t-shirt this weekend.

Don't forget that there is still plenty of time to enter this competition and the t-shirts will, no doubt, be on sale at the pre-season matches tomorrow and on Saturday. Some really great prizes up for grabs as well - a 2010/11 season ticket, £50 voucher to spend at the club shop and matchday tickets.

I'm gutted and surprised that the closing date is so early - there will be a lot of people, including myself, who will be going on holiday to far flung corners of the earth in August - the only opportunity to get a decent photo taken. Oh well, I'm sure there are reasons for the closing date, such as the start of the new season. Hey ho.

Oh well, I'm sure there are reasons for the closing date, such as the start of the new season. Hey ho. I heard from someone at the game today that there was every likelihood that the Trust are going to extend the closing date to at least the end of August, for the very reasons you state. No doubt something will be put on the website if this is the case. It certainly makes sense.

The closing date for entries is being extended to 3rd September and a formal announcement will follow shortly to fans and ABTA-bonded travel companies.
My mistake in setting the original closing date too close to the start of the season, but looking forward to some more entries now. You don't HAVE to travel to far-flung corners btw - a shot of you on the platform at the railway station amongst all those happy commuters would be just as good.

Good news. No images allowed -http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/Crouchaldinho_SACFC/thup.gif
More time for fans to get their photographs in and it also gives people more of a chance to buy the new 'Saints Marching' t-shirts, which have only been on sale for a couple of games due to the close season.
