Considering we were missing Jupp,Gordon,Hyde and Richard Graham, all of whom I would class as key players, this was a very, very good result. It's all well and good talking about pretty football but three points is three points and surely we'll all take that every time regardless of whether the game is a bit of a scrap or not, especially away from home! I was a bit harsh I suppose for not allowing for the absence of four first choice players. I am suitably chastised, though TBF I was not really having a go at City, I was just lamenting the overall standard of play in the SPL (compared even with the league above). I therefore stand by what I said earlier: "The standard of football at this level is so poor it's only bearable if you are watching a team that wins easily every week." Which I feel is much the same as saying "but three points is three points".

A very good first half, in which Sean Shields was outstanding. Chris Henry's goal must also be a contender for goal of the season, a stunning strike. We seemed to sit back in the second half and seemed satisfied to just contain Hitchin. I'm not sure if the plan once we got a two goal lead, was to hold on to it in the second half at all costs and put virtually no pressure on Hitchin's defence but it made for a very uninspiring spectacle to watch and is also a very dangerous game to play. A good and welcome 3 points, all the same and after all, that is what we came for.
Now for Harrow Borough. It looks good on paper but as we all know, from bitter experience (especially in the F.A. Cup), that means nothing.
