Also, for those fans who cannot make the game, Kettering Town have a online radio station run by fans at www.poppiesradio.com/The schedule on their website indicates that they will be covering this game so this will be available as an option for those who are unfortunately unable to get down to Clarence Park on Saturday.

I saw Hector Mackie at Harrow Borough. It is great that he has signed. He will be a fine asset.

A well deserved win for City according to Poppies Radio.
Sounded a bit nerve racking for us at the end though!

Made hard work against a side who didn't offer too much against us until the last 15 minutes. Two good goals from Toomey and the usual fright in defence at the end.

Agree with Yellowfox. Far from convincing performance but at least we got the three points.
On the positive side, both wide players - Shields and Henry - played very well today and looked a real threat. Also, the Toomey and Hayles partnership is really coming good. Toomey, in particular, was excellent.
On the negative side, we looked a little light elsewhere on the pitch really and we never really looked in complete control of this match. I feel a better side would have punished us.
Scrappy first-half. Second was better but a nervous end to the game.
Good attendance of 498.

I thought it was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests and the players are starting to gel well in midfield and up front playing passes on instinct and two wonderfully taken goals.

Some interesting comments from Owsy in his manager notes today.
Also, on a separate note, Howell thinks that Lewis and Barry could both score more than twenty goals each this season.
I have to agree with him that Shields is getting better and better. He is playing very well at the moment and long may it continue.
I think we're also starting to see the Hayles and Toomey partnership coming together nicely too!

3pts in the bag. game 'over' so on come the 3 subs to let them back into it.(again)
up front coming together , defense to be worked on. half decent striker and kettering might have got more.
great crowd too

I think it is important to remember that we were missing our first choice centre backs(Ujah and Gordon) and our main playmaker (Hyde).I think it shows the strength of the squad that we can bounce back from successive defeats with three wins with key players missing in all three.Agree that the front two look better and better with each game played. Must mention young Matt Taylor who started the move for the third goal and had a very steady match. I think we had four players on show today who have played in the youth team. Kettering had only lost one match all season before today, and drew at Stourbridge on their latest outing,so not an insignificant win for us. Let's hope they can survive, not just for selfish reasons, but they have been fixture in the non league scene for ages and have a loyal support who deserve better.

I think it is important to remember that we were missing our first choice centre backs(Ujah and Gordon) and our main playmaker (Hyde). Good point, Lonecrank. That definitely makes a significant difference to the team. Yes, indeed. I wasn't sure but I see Owsy has said that this was Matt Taylor's first start for the first team. I knew he had been on as a sub in the past but couldn't remember if he had started before. On Twitter, @owsy5 said: 'WELL DONE to St Albans City Youth team player 17 year old Matt Taylor who made his 1st team starting debut yesterday in 2-1 win v Kettering.' Congratulations to him and well done on a very solid starting debut.

Some interesting team news from this interview. Micah Hyde will be back in contention for Tuesday. Gareth Risbridger is out for 4 to 6 weeks. Owsy said that Matt Taylor will probably be rested for Tuesday. Finally, Owsy mentioned that Hector Mackie is back at the club.

David Clarke, the captain of the GB blind football team and record goalscorer was at the game yesterday and got a fantastic round of applause at half time.

He also said Danny Gordan was 50/50 for the Kettering game and if he picked up a knock wouldn't be available for Tuesday where as Jimmy Gray picks up knocks for fun lol
