Do any of you regularly buy any football magazines or papers? If so, which do you recommend?
On the non-League side of things, I'm a regular reader of the Non-League Paper, as I am sure many of you are, which I buy religiously every Sunday. Another non-League publication I have been buying just lately is the relatively new magazine NonLeague24, which is now on issue six. I've actually been quite impressed with it. One aspect that I do like about it is that Blue Square Premier does not dominate. There are also some great features and stories in it, the sort of things I always wanted to see more often in the NLP. It is a monthly magazine, and the cost is £3.95, which is quite expensive really, but actually it isn't too bad considering its content, which provides hours of good reading.
Outside of non-League football magazines, I recently tried FourFourTwo, which is a magazine I used to read when I was younger. It's pretty good, with a few decent features in it, but it doesn't seem to be as good as I remember it to be. When my trial subscription runs out, I doubt I will renew.
I've heard a lot of good things about When Saturday Comes and might look to pick up a copy of that next time I am in a newsagents.
The other magazine I have wondered about is World Soccer Magazine. I regularly read their website, especially for the Brian Glanville articles, as I like him as a writer. However, I have never tried the magazine out.
I'm quite interested in trying a magazine with quite a broad scope, covering football in different countries and at least printing some league tables. I was sure FourFourTwo used to do this in its 'planet football' section but no tables are to be found currently. So, any recommendations?
Over to you guys. What football magazines and papers do you buy/read?
