Boreham Wood won 1-0 at Aveley and will now face Kingstonian at home in the final. They both finished level on points so it'll likely be a tight final, yet the Wood are at home and must be slight favourites to get promotion to the Blue Square Bet South. In the Southern League Midlands division, I was interested to see that Hitchin Town lost their home play-off tie against Slough Town. The final score was Hitchin 1-2 Slough. Hitchin narrowly lost out on the title by 2 points on the last day of the season, accumulating a total of 100 points over the course of the season. They then managed to lose to the 5th placed team in the play-offs; a team who were a total of 23 points behind them in the league standings! I suppose it just goes to show what a lottery the play-offs can be. Hitchin Town fans must really be feeling the injustice of the situation they find themselves in. Similarly, going back to Boreham Wood, the Isthmian Premier finds its 4th and 5th placed teams contesting the final.

Slough Town had Chris Seeby playing with Simon Martin & Ricky Perks on the bench.
Often with the play-offs in any league, it's the form team who sneak in at the last minute, who go on to win the playoffs. Perhaps Hitchin were deflated after failing to gain automatic promotion on the last day of the season.

According to someone on the Hitchin Town forum, ex-Canary and current Saint Ryan Frater was in attendance at Top Field for their play-off match on Tuesday.

It seems the 2nd goal was counted twice.

I was surprised to read that Colin Payne, the Hitchin Town manager, has resigned and will now take over at Hemel Hempstead Town. Got to be a tough one to take for the long-suffering Canary fans.
Seems like a strange one to me. After Hitchin's season last year, you'd surely fancy them to go on and challenge again next season without too much change. For the manager to jump ship to Hemel, who were relegated from the league above, will surely involve quite a bit of rebuilding etc.
