I'm sure you're all getting the e-mails and checking the website, but the standings in the Saints City Trust World Cup Prediction Competition will be published here too. It will be only a brief overview, as we haven't found the best way to transfer the full standings over.
15th June
1. Eli 2. Olkvam 3. Hatboy 4. Gaz 5. Laura
And the coveted last place is currently occupied by...
Joint 19th - Sam Stancombe Voice That Ran The Rangers

I was cursing when Rooney hit the post this afternoon as I had 2-0 down for the predicted score! Not doing too brilliantly with my teams to go through to the last 16. I got both right in group C but I had France to go through in A and Greece in B!

I'm dropping like a stone (13th now) 32 points behind top spot and 32 points ahead of bottom place.

Wow, I actually predicted that quarter-final (Brazil v Holland) and got the winner right too. I've got Holland down to win it so I hope they can go all of the way now. They surely have a great chance after beating Brazil as the draw for the semis favours them!

I predicted Steven Gerrard being England's top scorer, which I believe means I get some points for that, although I'm not sure??
My top scorer prediction has been a flop, thanks a lot Fernando Torres! As has my team top scorers - Brazil I hate you.
However, I did have Germany to make the final, albeit they lost to England.

Hi COYS
Yes, you will be getting some bonus points for predicting Stevie G to be England's top scorer; and they will be added on Sunday, after the final.
Watch out for a new update on The Trust website tonight, following the second semi-final

I was devastated last night when Germany went out because of this prediction competition! I had them down for the final. I'm going to be cheering on the Netherlands in the final now. I really need that 20 points for predicting the winner!

One of the players has asked about the status of the third place play-off game in the prediction competition and this is to confirm that it DOES count towards the tournament top-scorers (individual and team), in accordance with FIFA's own practice.

Northamptonsaint - do you think there would be any chance you could tell us what people have riding on the final? For example, I need Holland to win and Villa to be top scorer, so I have the potential for 28 more points. Don't worry if it is too complicated or takes too much time. I'm just interested in the 'run-in' and who has what riding on the final! Great updates on the SCT website by the way. It's been great logging on to read the updates during the World Cup!

The outcome of the prediction competition really is going down to the wire and depends as much as the scoreline and scorers in the third place play-off game as it does on the outcome of the final tie itself. If The Netherlands wins and things stay the same on the bonus-front (ie Germany and David Villa as top scorers) there will be just two points between our winner and runner-up, with Daedalus, Eli, Gaz, Matt Morris, Olkvam and Richard Thompson (strictly in alphabetical order) all in the frame. If Villa is not top-scorer at the end of the competition, the winner and runner-up will be different again. If The Netherlands win and score four more goals in doing so than Germany did in the third place game, the top-four will be different. If Spain win and things stay the same on the bonus front, the top-three finishers will be different from above and if Spain win but Netherlands finish as top-scorers (for which the score in the final would have to be 5.4, with Germany having scored none in the other game), they will be different again. If Spain beat the Netherlands by three clear goals (and Germany fail to score), the positions will all change. And if Spain win, but Muller of Germany wins the Golden Boot, expect Voice That Ran The Rangers to feature in the final frame. Clear as mud? I thought so. Whoever finishes in the top four, they will have to wait in the queue at the club shop behind Laura, who - I'm afraid - will finish last whatever the outcome of the final two games but will at least pick up a prize

Wow, so it is going to be really tight! Yes, it is about as clear as mud! But an exciting end to the competition. Sounds good. No images allowed -http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/Crouchaldinho_SACFC/thup.gif
