See the official website - www.sacfc.co.uk/index.php/news/latest-club-news/1249-training-begins.htmlThirty-eight players were involved in a pre-season training session on Monday. Amongst those attending were the likes of Peter Smith, Ross Dedman, Rob Magwood, Ryan Frater, Adam Everitt and James Fisher. All very important players for the Saints so great to see them back in training for the new season.

38 ! Must of been a lot of yoof Well, I guess they have to fill two squads now that the reserves are participating in the SSML. I don't have any news on him. I've got my fingers crossed though as I think he played really well when given the chance last season. Maybe him and Drew Roberts could make a decent partnership up front? I wonder if there is any news on Sol Shields as well. I don't know when he was expected to return from injury but it would be good if he was back for pre-season.

Regarding Sol Shields:

Is that not him in the picture found on the official site? To the right of the picture, facing away from the camera?
If it is him, that suggests he's back in training at some level.

COYS - I thought it might be him when I first saw that photograph but I wasn't sure as he is facing away from the camera. Would certainly be good if he was back in training.

He won't be back before Christmas, confirmed yesterday
Ben Martin, however, was at the training session after his release from Chelmsford

Thanks for the info EFMTFTV. I'd definitely like to see Ben Martin back in blue and yellow this season. That's good news.

I have to say it sounds like good news if Martin is joining again, if he still as he was when he left, we could have a very good CB partnership in Martin and Frater.

Info I recieved by email : Not hard to work out which local reporter passed that on to you, boutifull, judging by some of the remarks contained therein. Interesting - the bit about the grass not being cut yet. As of today, I was told that it still hasn't been cut. I don't know what the weather forecast is but if it rains significantly over the next 2 or 3 days, I can see the groundsman struggling to get the Leyton Orient and Watford games on, if the situation is not sorted out quickly. Apparently, as well as the grass being high, all the white lining clearly still has to be done and also the goals and posts re-erected. Not good. There is one answer of course. Perhaps Mrs Gibson could earn her keep and arrange for some cattle and sheep to be brought in from the farm at Oaklands College tomorrow in order to get the grass down. That should do the trick ;D

As supporters have paid for the grass, perhaps the football club is waiting for them to cut it too?
The point about Oaklands is a good one, though. As a former agricultural college with a lot of grass to look after, presumably it has the equipment required to trim our pitch. Helping the football club with this would be a lot more valuable than other applications of their sponsorship funding.
And as for the comments made in the email posted to Boomer about the tall lad in the training, they are unbelievable. Bigoted is one word to describe them and actionable is another; regardless of freedom of speech and freedom of the press, supporters and the football club surely don't want to be associated with these kind of comments.

I have received a message regarding the e-mail copied and posted by Bouttifull advising that it is from a private correspondence and therefore should not have been repeated here. I have taken the decision to respect this privacy and therefore I have deleted the e-mail as requested by the author. As Bouttifull merely intended to share some of the salient points, I have deleted the e-mail but summarised the general content which is relevant to this thread. I hope this will suit all parties (i.e. Bouttiful and the original author). I have to confess that I was not particularly amused by some of the comments in this message anyway and I would tend to share Northamptonsaint's opinions on this matter. It seems to me that it is also probably best for the forum if such offensive and disagreeable comments are removed. Just to clarify, Bouttiful has clearly not done anything wrong here. He has simply reproduced this e-mail in the best interests of all Saints supporters in order to share some information. I hope he will not be discouraged from posting in the future. I would, however, discourage any potentially abusive, unpleasant and offensive comments of this nature in the future. Quite frankly, we don't want our forum associated with these kinds of remarks. Anyway, enough of this. I'd rather get back to the football!

You shouldn't reproduce e-mails like that without the permission of the author regardless of wether it's in the best intrests of the saints supporters or not

the email was posted by a friend logged in as me (as he doesn't have his own log in). It was never my intention for it to be posted here as it was a private email. he is sorry for any trouble or offence caused by posting it and will not be posting as me on here again as im getting bored of being berated for something somebody else has done. i have changed my passwords for this forum and my emails to stop this sort off thing form happening again. and maybe we can leave it now.
