I'm opening this thread to post updates on community initiatives rather than create a new thread for each one.

Well done today to the dozen or so Saints supporters who took time out on their Sunday afternoon to help run a St Albans City FC market stall at the Christmas lights switch on in the city centre today. Not only did they hand out several hundred "How to be a Saints supporter" leaflets but also took a few hundred pounds in merchandise sales (shirts, t-shirts, scarves, hats etc). Thanks also to all those supporters who visited the stall and said "hi". A great day and a great way to raise awareness and promote the club.

Why cant we promote saints on market stall in town every week? surely worth a punt to sell and get more support?

All very well in theory. Not for me to say but firstly, I would imagine that there could well be a waiting list for stalls and secondly, if there wasn't, you may have to guarantee to take a one (or at least pay for it) every week for a certain period of time. After that, there is the question of manning it and if we are talking about doing it on Saturday, I don't see too many volunteers offering their services after, say, 1:00pm. Lastly and invariably most importantly, there is the cost of taking a stall. I have no idea what the Council charge for a Saturday stall but the charge on the Xmas market last year was £150.00/day, every day that it was on. Not cheap.

It is something that SBYS have considered but as boomer states, the biggest challenge is getting volunteers to give up their time to help manage the stall on a weekly basis and when they most likely will be wanting to watch the match. However it's not being ruled out and will certainly be something we will look at in the future.
