Lots of optimism about tomorrow's match but hope no complacency creeps in as 'Stoke will be more than capable of beating us. However if performance matches last two league games then we have a real chance of getting all 3 points.

We need to be looking at a performance at least as good as the Maidenhead Utd game, if not better. Make no mistake, this game will be no walkover, regardless of their position in the league and they are sure to be buoyed by the signing of ex-Luton and QPR striker, Rowan Vine returning to his home town. The 3 points are certainly achievable but we have to impose ourselves on them from the very 1st minute and give them no respite for the next 89.

FT: 2-2.
Having gone behind twice, I'm happy enough with that. Good to see a fight in the players which was missing.

Margate beat Gosport 1-0 so we may be back in the bottom 3.

Margate beat Gosport 1-0 so we may be back in the bottom 3. Indeed, looks like we're back in 21st, seven ahead of Basingstoke, and one point behind Havant, Weston & Margate. Of course, two crucial games versus Stortford, only four points above and also a winnable fixture against Chelmsford, who lost to Wealdstone, and are only five points above ourselves in 13th.

A strange game. We were against the wind the first half and probably gave one of our poorest displays of the season. We looked lethargic in midfield, coupled with too much fancy dan stuff and no end product. I don't think I have ever witnessed so many misplaced passes in one half. We probably put only one real shot on target the whole of the 45 minutes and were more than fortunate to be only one goal down at half time. Depressing wasn't in it. The second half, with the wind at our backs, was a huge improvement. I don't know what was said at half time by HW but it certainly seemed to have an effect. The work rate increased and gradually, we started to work our way more and more into the game and eventually began to gain the upper hand. The real game changer, though, was bringing on Jonathan Edwards with 30 to go. There was an immediate injection of pace, with him pulling their defence all over the place. Sam Corcoran's strike with 11 minutes left was an absolute peach and, at the moment, has to be number one contender for Goal of the Season. Following a defensive mix up, Basingstoke then restored their lead 2 minutes later, which not so very long ago would likely have sent us home empty handed. Not on Saturday. We then proceeded to turn the pressure up even further and were rewarded when Ben Martin planted a bullet header, from a corner, wide of their keeper for the equaliser. A fair scoreline on the day but, in truth, if the match had continued for another five or ten minutes, we may well have returned home with all three points. A word, too, on Tom Bender's last ditch saving tackle earlier on in the second half, which prevented a certain goal. A magnificent effort.
