It's going to be a tough game today. I'm not too concerned about the 3G surface being an advantage to Sutton as we performed well at Maidstone on theirs, and really should of got something from that game! Team selection could be pivotal today especially at the heart of our back four with all four central defenders available, I believe pace will be beneficial today but I have a gut feeling the management will go with a combination of Locke and Martin. Slicker, it as if you just knew who would be playing in defence! You're so wise.

3-0
I'm beginning to suspect that the current side is not very good.

Locke and Martin are both too slow for this league. But, someone will tell me that both of them have been playing a blinder.

To be fair, I think individually they both put in good performances over the festive break, but they cannot play together, and I still prefer Locke over Martin.
Think today may be quite an important part of the season...

FT 5-0 Think the team need more than a few tweaks by Harry.

Oh dear.
I wasn't expecting anything and, on one hand, a 0-1 gives the same number of points as a 0-5, but it's starting to become alarming.
The home games are still the critical ones – if we fail to take six points from WSM and Truro it could be looking very bleak indeed.

Truro drew at Ebbsfleet ( what a stupid name for Gravesend that is !) and Weston won at Chelmsford. Basingstoke, my tip for resurrection, also won.

Sutton had the busier keeper on the day. Sort the defence out and the Saints could survive.

Sutton had the busier keeper on the day. Sort the defence out and the Saints could survive. that might possibly be statistically correct, but it creates a totally false impression, the difference in the number of clear cut chances created was huge,if Sutton hadn't been so profligate they would have won by an even greater margin. I am already planning the trip to Merthyr Tydfil.

Thank you Saint for the compliment, although it really isn't necessary. Would you say that my concerns were vindicated today?
Look on the bright side folks, at least the journey home on the new swanky team coach will go a little way to soften the blow (joke)

Though I hope the club don't mind you posting parts of the Starting XI on the forum before a game haha! Pass our congrats onto Jimmy as I see Berko progressed through to the next round of the Vase!

Let's not kid ourselves here, we were annihilated today, pretty much all over the park. We were nowhere near good enough and quite honestly, it could easily have been 8 or 9. We have 18 league games remaining and make no mistake, we are now in very serious trouble. If the players, manager, chairman, owners and supporters didn't realise it before, they need to realise it now. If this situation isn't resolved as a matter of urgency, I don't think there is too much doubt that we will be back in the Southern Premier next season.

I don't quite follow Saint regarding Jimmy/Berko??
Regarding the team selection it was merely expressing a concern about my gut feeling.
Boomer, I completely agree with you, changes have to be made, going down should not be an option. Big decisions need to be made

As far as I'm concerned we are pretty much down now. We needed to get decent results over the xmas period and we didn't.

Starting line-up wasn't what was required in my view but against such a strong opposition I am unsure any line up from our available players would have produced a positive result. However in first 20 minutes we had better chances but they finished their only chance - and then the second. Their forum makes interesting reading - best Sutton performance for years and we were a "gutsy" team suttonunited.proboards.com/thread/7010/sutton-united-st-albans-city?page=1We do need an experienced manager appointed - very soon

If we go on like this there is only one outcome and the word begins with a big R.
IMO we have the players, they need proper organisation and the like, changing room rumour that wages haven't been paid, come on Levy get your act together.

It all to easy for Sutton fans to make positive remarks (e.g. us being far from the worst team that they have faced this season) having come away with a 5-0 victory. Perhaps their supporters making such comments makes the size of their win look that much better. I know what I saw out there today and we were not at the races the whole game. The two sides looked at least three divisions apart. Our central defence was made to look so static it wasn't true and we were continually taken apart down both flanks at every opportunity. Others will, no doubt, comment on the team selection, formation and tactics.

That was the point I was trying to make - as soon as they attacked they sliced through our defence - right through the middle for the first goal. I now understand Johnson had an injury which is why he didn't play.
