SCT Prediction League 2018/19

The Saints City Trust is once again running the ever-popular Prediction League over the coming 2018/19 season. The aim is to predict which teams will win the major league and cup competitions. Previous years have seen the winners only decided by the last few games. You will note an increase to the prize money in this season's competition.

• £5 entry fee

• Winner £100 prize, second place £25 and third place £10

• Points will be awarded as follows:

• League Champions 4 points Cup Winners 4 points

• Runners up 3 points Losing finalists 3 points

• Third place 2 points Losing semi finalists 2 points

• Fourth place 1 point

• The winner will be the person with the most points at the end of the season. In the event of a tie the person with the greatest number of 4 point predictions wins. If still level the prize will be shared between those with the same number of points.

• All entries and cash/cheques to a Trust Board Members by the closing date of Saturday 22 September 2018.

• A copy of your prediction and those of the other entrants will be sent to you.

• Updates of the latest position will be published regularly in the Club Programme and on the Trust website.

Alternatively, you can pick up an application form at the Trust stand opposite the Club Shop on match days. Any questions or queries should be directed to Duncan McLeod or Barry Hilliard. Feel free to download the form and send it to friends, family and colleagues. Why not e-mail it around the office and have a mini-competition with your friends at work? It is lots of fun and well worth entering so that you can check up on your chosen teams throughout the season!

Some big movers this time around with Davy McLean up a staggering 48 places into 4th spot. Patrick Knock (+26) and Alan Turner (+24) also make significant moves. The biggest fallers this time around are Mick Holland, Dave Church and Simon Edwards. The results of the cup competitions are looking likely to be a major factor in the final outcome……………….........

We are now at the business end and anyone selecting Real Madrid or PSG for the Champions League may possibly have seen their chances of winning going up in smoke with the results in the Round of 16. Alan Brittain climbs 12 places into top spot, closely followed one of our Aussie fans, Frank Godman. Biggest risers this time around are Nick Scott (+31), Roger Aggett (+27), Haydn Wigg (+22) and Dave Church (+21). Going in the opposite direction are Patrick Knock (-35), Michael Hames (-25), Davy McLean (+20) and David Northcott (-17). All still to play for ………………

Here are the updated positions in the Saints City Trust Prediction League, as at 8 April. As we go into the home straight, things appear to be levelling out but there are still some significant risers and fallers. Out in front are Richard Funnell and Tom McLeod on 36 points.with Alan Brittain dropping to 3rd. Gavin Shorey leaps 26 places from 50th to 28th, Davy McLean rebounds back 13 places, David Northcott is up 12 and Ken Harding moves up menacingly from 11th to 4th spot. Going the other way are Tim Pheby (-22), James Knock (-21) and Sue Rogers (-21). We await await the outcome of all the cup competions with interest.

Here are the updated positions at the penultimate stage of the Saints City Trust Prediction League, as at 29 April. With just the F.A.Cup, the F.A.Trophy and the Champions League results to be accounted for, Peter Knock moves into top spot closely followed by Tom McLeod in 2nd and Aussie, Frank Godman who is up 6 places to 3rd. Other big climbers, this time around, are Bill Knock, Ann Evelyn and Karina Hames with Duncan McLeod, Richard Palmer and Vernon Hames all going in the opposite direction. Not long to go……………

The results of this season’s Predictions League, following the Champions League Final, are now in. The final positions were not decided until the very last game with Liverpool’s win over Tottenham gaining Tom McLeod the top prize over Peter Knock on countback, by virtue of having more 4 point winners.

The winners are as follows and cheques are in the post:
