That's my little preview. Not as a good as when Saint does it, of course. How does everyone think we will do? My prediction: 2-1 Roberts 307

I believe that this match might well see the first outing of our new home kit as well. Let's hope it brings us some luck!

0-0 FT.
A boredraw can sum it up, a big difference from how we played at Thurrock, only differences were that we played well in defense but our chances up front could not be taken. Both Roberts and Effiong had chances to score.
We started well in the first half, heavy rain mid-way through the half slowed the game down and chances were rare but we finished the half rather weakly, where at half time, we could well have been 1-0 up.
After the break Basingstoke very much ran the show, having the majority of possesion and plenty of chances, especially from distance, we couldn't keep the ball and both Effiong and Roberts had more chances to give us a lead, but as the half went on, we clawed our way back and as the end drew nearer, we were on top with several corners and chances.
MOTM: Ben Martin, he was solid at the back and dealt with almost every attack (Mentions to Sulaiman, Smith and Bastock who did okay)
A fair point for both sides. At least we're still underfeated! Anyway, onto Braintree at home on Saturday where we must grow on this result.

I'd have to disagree with you there, Saint. I think a 'bore draw' is a bit harsh. It may not have been the most enthralling ninety minutes of football I've ever watched, but it was finely balanced, and ticked over nicely. To me, it seemed as though Basingstoke controlled the majority of the match, but it was us who had the better chances. Drew Roberts made probably the wrong decision to square to Inih Effiong, before he duly slipped before firing wide. In truth, either side could have won it, as we both had spells of dominance. We forced a few corners at the end, resulting in a goal-mouth scramble, so perhaps we could have won it, but if Basingstoke had better quality in the final third there is no reason why the same argument could be made for them. I would agree that Ben Martin played well at the back, but I think you've been a little harsh in omitting Rob Magwood from your list of 'honourable mentions.' He got stuck in and sprayed the ball about well enough. Two points from two games isn't a bad start, and hopefully we can build on the solid defensive display today, and the attacking display from Saturday, and put them together to win against Braintree at the weekend.

Not the greatest game I have seen we didn't seem to find much space to play the ball about, but at the end of the day I think a point each was a fair result, ben martin was exellent at the back great to have him back, will be good when frater teams up with him at the back.

If anyone wondered where the new kit was, according to D, it will be delivered tomorrow.
Also, Braintree, who we play on Saturday, are top of the league on goal difference.
ATT: 311.
Bastock's 200th game and Fishers 100th for the club!

Am I the only one who came away from the match thinking that we should have won it last night? I thought we had some good chances and really should have put at least one of them away. Basingstoke only really threatened from distance.
Overall, I thought it was a solid display. The only downside was that the players seemed to lose their concentration a bit and trailed off at the end of the first-half and during periods of the second.
I suppose a draw probably was fair on reflection but I couldn't help but feel that Drew or Inih could have put away one of those chances to win all three points. It'll be interesting to hear Castle's reflections on the game.
Anyway, bring on Braintree. COYS!

Deadalus I agree, it was an encouraging performance and on balance I thought "we" did enough to deserve a win. Good to finally see some attacking threat but also good fitness levels as the game was played at quite a pace. Overall an enjoyable match and although I can't make Saturday I'l be back at CP very soon. Cheers MWS
