Current Form:Staines Town - WLD St. Albans City - DDD Last match:Dover Athletic 1 - 1 Staines Town St. Albans City 0 - 0 Braintree Town Line-up from last outing in the league:Staines Town - Wells, Jackson, Kamara, Gordon, Ifura, Risbridger, Charles-Smith, Brown, Griffiths, Scarlett, Butler. (Subs - King, Chaaban, Harris, Taylor, Steer). St. Albans City - Bastock, Deeney, Smith, Magwood, Martin B., Everitt, Martin, A., Fisher, Effiong, Roberts, Martin R. (Subs - Sullivan, Kweme, Simpson, Peters, Frater). Top goalscorer(s):Staines Town - Butler, Griffiths & Scarlett all on 1 goal. St. Albans City - Roberts & Effiong on 1 goal. Last two league meetings between the sides:[/b] - Staines Town 4 - 3 St. Albans City (20/02/10) - The Saints found themselves 3-2 down at half-time with Staines scoring a brace of goals from Taylor and a single goal from Ahmed. Goals from Ian Dunn and Mark Peters formed the Saints reply. In the second-half, Staines scored again through Griffiths to make it 4-2. Gary Cohen scored a consolation in the last ten minutes of the game. - St. Albans City 1 - 3 Staines Town (08/09/09) - Staines came to Clarence Park for this mid-week fixture early on in the season and shocked the Saints faithful by going in 3-0 up at half-time. Jamie Thurlbourne pulled one back for the Saints in the second-half but it really was an evening to forget for City. Griffiths was dismissed for Staines late on in the game but it made little difference as the Saints were defeated. Latest Saints team news: Hassan Sulaiman should be available again for the Saints after missing the last game due to work commitments. Saint King of the Castle's Final Word: So, another draw for the mighty Saints on Saturday against a strong Braintree side. Normally, we would probably consider this to be a good result against a decent side. However, with the 0-0 draw making it 3 consecutive draws in a row, it doesn't seem quite as good as it normally would. The main problem has been upfront, Roberts and Effiong just haven't managed to click since the Thurrock match and we've been lacking quality in the final third. Our next opponents, Staines Town currently sit in 10th position in the league table with 4 points. I feel that this is a match which we could well get a result in, however, as we saw last season, Staines are a very tough opponent, both home and away. In my opinion, the most important thing will be to get back to scoring goals, which as Steve Castle says 'win games and put bums on seats'! Staines Town have been one of the quietest teams in terms of signing and losing players this summer with signing just 4 players from other clubs and losing just 1 to another club. They have started the season with mixed results, kicking off with a 1-0 win at home to Lewes, then losing 2-1 at Bishops Stortford, and in their last match, they drew 1-1 away at Dover. As has already been posted by D above, last season Staines did the double over us and in this fixture last season, we lost 4-3. Our recent encounters seem to guarantee goals; the total goals between the two sides last season was 11! And that's in two matches! So, a tough match certainly ahead! But if we build upon our solid defence, then the win will come soon and I believe that win could come on Tuesday. What's your opinion? Is a win possible? Is a draw a good result? Or will we be lucky to escape Ali G's area with a point? Share your views and get involved! Staines ticket info: Adults £10, concessions £5, students £6 COYS! I think another point wouldn't be such a bad result. It's the home games we need to be getting three points from. Anything more than a point tomorrow would be great.
I fear it could be another dire 0-0, with Bazza getting us out of jail again.

It's going to be a tough one as Saint pointed out in his 'final word'. Personally, I'm hoping for a point. My prediction is 1-1. Drew Roberts to score our goal. I'm going to shock myself one day by actually getting a prediction right!

I went to this fixture last season and although we lost it was certainly an entertaining affair. The Staines Massive were also in good voice singing "there's only one Doctor Evil" to Bazza.
On that day Staines were pushing for a play off position and we pushed them all the way. If we can show the same spirit this evening then we may get something from the game - but it won't be easy.

I'd take another draw here but i'm still worried that we'll struggle for goals at the moment.

Here's what my source at the game had to say about it:
"FT 2 - 2 Good game. Games of 2 halves. Fair result in the end but 2 outstanding saves in 2nd half by their keeper, one from deflection, other from Ben Martin. Great performences from Deeney, Fisher, Sulaiman and Effiong."

First half: Sounded like we were fine.
Second half: What happened? I know we had chances but what has happened to that solid defence which has seen us keep those clean sheets in our previous two matches? It just boggles the mind really!
We score, yet cant keep clean sheets, but when we don't score, we seem to keep clean sheets?

I was at the game, it was the same saturday we were great first half then second half we just seem to tire and lose pace on the other side. We look like we have a good team BUT there are two or three weak links in the side that are letting the side down. Shame to here Sullivan has been released I thought he was coming on quite well, just hope we replace these strikers that we are once again losing.

www.stalbansreview.co.uk/sport/8350861.New_club_record_but_win_eludes_City/The Inih Effiong goal was indeed a peach and, even at this early stage, must be a contender for Goal of the Season. Hassan Sulaiman evaded at least four tackles in his run down the right touchline before crossing inch perfect to Effiong, who finished with a bullet header from a very tight angle at the far post. Brilliant stuff.

I thought it was a good game but obvious to everyone that when it went 2-1 it would end up a draw or defeat

Shame to here Sullivan has been released I thought he was coming on quite well, just hope we replace these strikers that we are once again losing. Hmmmmm...... The Sullivan release dissapoints me but makes me think that Castle is letting go of him to get more of a strike force with the funds saved? Thesaints & Saint, I'm afraid to say that the Sullivan release probably has more to do with Castle going slightly over budget than him trying to free up funds to improve the side. That's what I got from the last few interviews anyway.

I'm still worried about the amount of goals we'll score we have scored 2 twice away from home because teams come and you and you can counter but at home can't score !
