I take the point St Albans are not involved and that it is hardly the champions league final but there is a game of football at Clarence Park tomorrow afternoon at 3PM. Westmill v Everett Rovers (5 quid adults, 2 quid concessions). As we are hosting the game surely the club should have taken the 10 seconds necessary to put out a post on social media about this.

to be honest, no incentive to advertise a game which will get no more than 80 people and the club has no stake in it, as i assume everything is being rented out and the club is not performing any part in the day - it would be the equivalent of Hitchin advertising about our herts cup final when we played there

By your logic you never hold a door open for a stranger, thank someone who serves you a shop etc. It a hoffric dystopian vision of economic man from neo-classical economics taken to its exterme. Clubs at our level moan about the arrogrance of the premier league but both the club and yourself are displaying actually the same attuide to grassroots clubs below us. What the difference between what you just wrote and a Arsenal fan dismissing a southern conference league side as only getting a 1000 or so supporters and being unimportant. St Albans exists as part of a wiider football ecosystem and when we can perform a courtesy, at almost zero cost to ourselves, to clubs lower down that ecosystem we should. A failure to do so just makes look like a arrogant unpleasant club.

The club over many years has frequently staged local football cup finals and good for them for doing so. A social media post saying the game is on would be common courtesy !! The trophy is named in memory of a St.Albans man who put in many years service to local football as a player, referee and league administrator.

We used to host the Bingham Cox Cup Final and Herts Junior Cup Final over Easter and got good crowds for the games.

Attendance today 315. Not bad for two small sides.
