In response to the many supporters and Trust members who have approached us over the past week, the board of the Saints City Trust have felt compelled to issue the following statement to reiterate their position.
The Saints City Trust has made no offer, nor will it be making any offer, in response to the proposal put forward by Mr John Gibson in his recent statement on the club's official website.
The supporters of St. Albans City Football Club have a wealth of enthusiasm, experience and skills, and they donate to the club both their time and money. We believe that the board of St. Albans City Football Club should recognise the efforts of those that so selflessly give their time and donate so generously, and we are disheartened that the current Chairman believes that the money raised and donated by the supporters of St. Albans City Football Club should be handed over to be spent without any degree of accountability.
We have always tried to maintain open communication with the Chairman and have made it clear that we will listen to any reasonable request for funds that will support the long-term future of the club but that we will not hand over the money that you, the supporters, have donated without asking questions as to what it will be spent on or expecting to see the results.
We wholeheartedly support the team who wear so proudly wear our colours and appreciate their ongoing efforts to secure our place in the Blue Square Bet South for next season and long may the current run of results continue.
