All sounds very positive. They are certainly saying all of the right things so far.
Ian Ridley for chairman then? That's the strongest rumour that I have heard.

The quote above is the exact opposite of Gibson. This can only be a good thing.

It will be interesting to see what happen's with Castle.
Depending on who the new chairman is, they may want to bring in someone they have worked with before and have a complete fresh start on the playing side.
With the Ian Ridley rumour, wasn't Steve Claridge the manager at Weymouth when he was chairman ?

He was, apparently he was on a fair whack though

A couple of things about Ian Ridley though are, first of all, whether his health would be a factor in his decision to get involved again? Also, whether or not he would be wary of getting involved to that level again? I don't know.
He would be a popular choice though, surely? He has the contacts, the knowledge, the experience, the ideas, the ambition etc. Plus lives locally and would be fully involved in everything.

Herts Ad article today - www.hertsad.co.uk/sport/football/search_begins_for_city_1_897800Interesting comments about Oaklands and about getting local youth involved. Also, good comments from Ian Rogers: Spot on. Hopefully, next season we can all get back to enjoying the football at CP. It's early days but the sense is of a good spirit of communication and cooperation between the new board and the supporters, which can only be a positive thing.

On City Youth...
I think severed would be a better word. The sooner we reestablish those links the better. If anything it makes a large number of children aware that they have a football club in their city!
We could do with a Chris Seeby or two over the coming years.

Never mind Chris Seeby, wot about Craig Mackail-smith, premier league bound with Norwich next season and now International with Scotland, also saw Gavin Tomlin in play-offs with Torquay, just another to slip through net. Lets hope appointments of chairman and manager soon to plan for where we`re goin. Wot we seem to miss out on every pre-season is a money spinning game with premier team to boost coffers for budget, can remember Spurs & Arsenal sending 1st teams in past.

To quote the Herts Ad :-
Does this mean that Gibson is still getting the Oaklands money, rather than the club ?

Forget about Oaklands. We have a future without them.
It's probably too late to secure any decent preseason friendlies this year. No doubt we'll get Orient and Luton but hopefully Mr Levi and co will make the most of it and get a few people through the gate.

To quote the Herts Ad :- Does this mean that Gibson is still getting the Oaklands money, rather than the club ? I don't think so Yellowfox. The SAFA (which is the academy run by the Gibsons) is obviously totally separate to SACFC. Plus, John Gibson now has nothing at all to do with the Football Club as far as we know. I think it was alleged that it was in his position as Chairman of the Football Club that he was receiving the Oaklands money rather than it going directly into SACFC? Regarding the pre-season friendlies, Luton Town would be good. We normally get Watford as well in recent years. Last year was Leyton Orient, Watford, Brackley Town, Waltham Abbey, Crawley Town and Hemel Hempstead.

Not sure TBH, the information I received said that Levy and McGovern were looking to re-establish links with St Albans City Youth
Castle will still be working for Gibson at Oaklands, not quite sure how all that will work

The sooner all links to Gibson, Castle and Oaklands are severed the better!

Regarding pre season friendlies. Any chances Bazza could persuade Boston to play at Clarence Park?. At leeast the supporters can actually say goodbye to him.

Boston would make a fitting Billy Minter Trophy (or whatever it was called) match.

McGowan insists their new chairman will be a well known and popular choice at Clarence Park.
Who do we reckon then...
1. Bill Chip 2. Ian Ridley
Any others?

3. John Mitchell?

I wouldn't say Bill Chip was a "footballing person" so to speak, but he'd be a great person to have back on the board
The clue is in the 'fans favourite' bit, I think Ridley but Mitch would be an equally welcome appointment, maybe give Mitch the managers job

Maybe Kevin Mudd for chairman? Popular ex player and local man. Bob Dowie as his partner?

Danny Desmond?. A former player (not sure how old he is). Lives in a house around Ayot St Lawrence way. So must be rich. (Just generalising).

Ian Ridley would be great but also Bill Chip would be good. Im not sure if im right or not but I do beleive Bill Chip was possibly chairman at London Colney for a bit or at least sponsored them.

I'm pretty sure someone told me that Bill Chippington was one of the sponsors at Watford last season. With the change of ownership, perhaps he might consider switching allegiance back to his local team. Bill was certainly a very enthusiastic supporter when he was originally on the board, travelling to a number of away games, as well. A sound guy.
