Under another thread, the subject of publicity for the pre-season matches has been raised.
That rough rag, The Herts Ad. dropped thru my door yesterday. I picked it up to read up about the QPR friendly, I scoured the rag for the latest news. And continued scouring. Not a mention. Not a single word. Their reporter really is woeful. Totally inept.
The club needs more support at this important time from the media. The Review will no doubt, have given the match some mention. But I guess that is the difference. You don't pay for the Herts Ad. And you get what you pay for. Or don't, in this instance, if you see what I mean.
I've put a "No Rubbish" notice on my door now so hopefully no more Herts Ad.
Best of luck to the boys. I can't be there on Monday but hope to back for the match on Sunday.

But my point is that there is news and this publication has not provided any publicity for it. Not a syllable.
The news? Oh yes, there's a match against QPR this coming Monday. Kick off? Er, er.

I have to agree with you on this, assegai. I don't know whether it is down to Club or the Herts Advertiser. The Herts Advertiser really need to wake up and start making an effort but perhaps the Club also need to think about taking on a Press Officer to ensure this doesn't happen again in the future. To have nothing at all on the back page the week before the QPR game is a disgrace. It will be interesting to see what the gate is, for the game.

Its a shame that the club hasn't really made the most of this fixture. QPR may still be sending an 'XI' but the club I'm sure could've made more out of a Premier League side coming down to CP than they have.
I think it's just general mis-comunication between all parties, but hopefully it can be built upon for the Gabala and Peterborough friendlies.
By the way, Hitchin got a gate of around 800 for their game versus Luton last night. Not bad eh?!

The Herts Ad did do a match preview on their website. Shame they haven't featured anything on the back page of the actual paper though.

That is something, I guess but it is not going to reach out to a 80k readership. The fixture gets a mention in today's NLP, though.

The previews are often done on a Thursday or Friday, and by then, the paper has already been printed, so the previews do not get printed, which IMO is a bit silly.

Having criticized the paper, it should be praised for its extensive coverage of the Gabala match.
Well done.
