Saints fan Jake Ellacott gives us his brief thoughts on this last home friendly match for the Saints. This Tuesday, the Saints play their final home pre-season fixture against Championship side Peterborough United. The Posh manager, Darren Ferguson, has confirmed they will be bringing their first team to Clarence Park. This means City fans will have the chance to see the likes of Scotland international George Boyd playing on Tuesday evening. The Posh bounced straight back from League One last season, after winning the play-off final 3-0 against Huddersfield at Old Trafford. Ex-Saint, and now ex-Posh forward, Craig Mackail-Smith, scored one of the three goals for Peterborough. Since the last home friendly against Gabala, which the Saints lost 3-2, City have played two pre-season matches. One was against Royston Town, which the Saints won 2-0 courtesy of two Darren Hart goals, and a dominating performance from Solomon Shields in the middle of the park for City. However, the second game saw the Saints slump to a 3-2 defeat, in a match in which they found themselves 3-0 down at half-time. A much improved display after HT could not stop Howell's side falling to another defeat in pre-season. After the Aylesbury game, the manager confirmed that four more players had been signed by the club. These players are: Reece Yorke, Marvin Alebiosu, Brian Haule and Kojo Appentang. These signings take the total amount of confirmed players in the squad up to 14. Spread the word about the Mighty Saints and bring your friends and family down to Clarence Park on Tuesday evening to watch what should be an entertaining friendly. David Howell's Mighty Saints take on the Championship quality of Darren Ferguson's Peterborough United! COYS! Never boring to be a Posh fan then. Two successive promotions, followed by relegation, followed by another promotion, in the last four years!

Gaz has kindly sent me a flyer that he has designed for this match: No images allowed -http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/Crouchaldinho_SACFC/Saints%20Stuff/Flyer.jpg It is to be printed out and cut in half, then distributed. Alternatively, you could always send the file to your friends and family etc. via e-mail! Spam everyone you know! ;D It's a really nice design. I think it was supposed to go on the official website but didn't for some reason. Shame, as it looks excellent. It might be a little late now but it's still worth downloading to spread the word about the Mighty Saints! See the attachment below and click to download. Attachments:

Yes, great leaflets but I never knew anything about it going on the official site as they were designed to be leaflets - 1200 leaflets were distributed in the town centre on Saturday.

Must be my misunderstanding with the leaflets. That's really good anyway. Fingers crossed for a big crowd tomorrow night! No images allowed -http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/Crouchaldinho_SACFC/crossfingers.gif

Went to my first friendly yesterday, all looks good around the ground alot of effort has been put in fair play to all. The only thing I thought let my first experience down was the new tea bar, at half time I thought I would have a coffee but after queuing for around 15 mins I gave up, my brother however continued to que and brought 1 burger , 1 chips and I can of drink at the cost of £7 now to me at a football match that is a total rip off, If they do get any sorts of crowds this year that tea bar for one can't handle the que and also at them prices that is a total con. Apart from that small thing all looks good. COYS

If im honest thesaints, its fairly obvious that you dont queue at half time if you want to get food, as you will expect to queue for a long time at every ground in the county!

Went for the first time this season yesterday with my son. Have been going for many years but not much in the last few as I couldn’t bear watching the club being run into the ground.
First impressions. The club is no longer being run into the ground. There’s a it of a spring in the step about the place. The team? I didn’t recognise half of them and could have done with the teams being read out again at half time.
Thought Moran and the no.2 and no.6 looked tidy and Narada Bernard before he went off. Walker blew hot and cold. Didn’t rate his replacement. Jupp is very good, hopefully he can be signed up. I was impressed with James Bent when he came on. Took up good positions without getting much of the ball, apart from when he scored of course! Nice touches away from goal. Slightly concerned about a lack of creativity in centre midfield maybe, and I think goals might be a little bit hard to come by unless there’s a couple of tweaks. All in all, looking forward to it though and will be down a lot more.
One criticism. The food prices are extortionate. You can argue that they are selling free range Aberdeen Angus burgers if you like until you are blue in the face, but it’s just too much. But it’s not only that; the mark up on other things is extreme. For example £1.10 for a 33cl sized 50p can of 7-Up. That sort of behaviour is just not on and is exploiting a captive audience and it needs addressing.

Agree with all the positive stuff, but also the comment about the food I'm afraid. £4 for a burger, and just under £2 for a cone with a few chips simply isn't acceptable. It's a football ground not a restaurant. What happened to the guys from the earlier game? Or last season, to be honest?

Even during the dark days of last season, we still managed a top crowd at home of just under 500 and it didn't seem to be any problem for the food/tea bar franchise at that game or any of the other games. The service was efficient and the prices were sensible.
I can see us easily matching those type of attendance figures this season and perhaps bettering them, if we have reasonable success and especially in view of some of the local derbies that are involved. Let's hope that whoever operates the catering is geared up for it. The crowds are be likely to be a lot higher than the Gabala and Peterborough games.

Welcome to the forum Moordown66. I was impressed with James Bent when he came on. Took up good positions without getting much of the ball, apart from when he scored of course! Nice touches away from goal. I have to agree. I liked the look of James Bent during his brief appearance. Nice movement, controlled the ball well and held it up nicely etc. Sol Shields only got 20 mins for some reason. Not sure why, maybe Charlery wanted to look at other options. But a fully fit Sol Shields will provide some creativity in midfield, in my opinion. In fact, I was thinking to myself that Sol Shields and David Ijuha could make quite the partnership in central midfield.

Thanks guys for the heads up on the cost of the food! Certainly will not be getting my custom at those prices. Still that will help to keep the queues and my waistline down. As an aside - Is it just me that needs to re-enter details nearly every time at sign in?

I take it that you have tried ticking the 'Keep me logged in' button Canary Saint?
My computer just keeps me logged in so when I come to the site I don't have to enter anything.

D I like to use a 'clean up' programe on a fairly regular basis which removes saved log ons. I think the problem is user input error. I'll just have to be more careful.

Re: the food, would you rather pay £3 for a crap burger flung in a bun or a quid more for some quality, I know what I'd choose However I agree with keeping the price of chips lower (after all they are just bits of fried potatoes) and cans of soft drinks

It has been mentioned that Lawrence has had his attention brought to the tea bar prices and along with everything else he has to do at the club is keeping an eye on things so given time i'm sure like everything else at the club in time will be ironed out.
Everything at the club is improving day by day.
