And this is a player who has had one good season among many less-than-impressive ones... anyone would think he was Cesc Fabregas the way he is behaving off the field...

Good point and lets not forget he was hardly outstanding for all of last season, in plenty of games he looked like a total donkey, these games were more frequent that the ones he looks good in
The fact he was nowhere near the player of the year awards says it all really

The whole situation would seem to be wholly dependent on the terms of the contract he signed at the start of the 2010/11 season. If there was a clause in it stating that the club had an option to re-engage him for the 2011//12 season then he can't just go wandering off to any other club he sees fit. It is not up to him. There would need to be an agreement to do so with the original club.

Can't think why we'd want a close relationship with Borehamwood anyway! Truly horrible place!! I was there when one of their so-called fans attacked a player during their play-off game with Kingstonian and then he was let back into the ground. Amazing!!

That statement from the Wood chairman is pretty unprofessional, isn't it? It reads like a personal attack on Ian Ridley and St. Albans City, rather than a statement of fact.
I'm going to be very interested to see Ian Ridley's response. I'd like to believe that he'll conduct himself with a little more class than that regardless of what he has to say.

Surely if Farnborough had agreed a fee with us then surely with the financial state they are in they wouldnt miss out on not having to pay for a player, therefore Borehamwood must have to pay for him. I was also reading on the Farnborough forum quite a few fans didnt think Effiong was all that and didnt want him.

Seven of the players from Harrow Boro' that have played for St Albans in pre season had been signed (by Dave Howell) to play for Harrow for 2011-12 season . Four have signed for St Albans , one returned to Harrow , The others have not signed or returned to Harrow. Best only to critise others when sqeaky Clean !!

The players signed from Harrow Borough were non-contract players though, surely? I mean, they had probably signed league forms or whatever, but they weren't under contract.
It's quite a bit different to Inih, who was actually under a proper contract. As Boomer said, it's really about the nature of Inih's contract and what the terms were. This appears unclear at the moment.
I'm finding it all a bit confusing. I mean, as riddickthesaint says, why would Farnborough look to agree a fee if it wasn't necessary to pay one?

^^^ what he said
15 goals don't make you a good player, it just means you managed to score 15 goals

I guess the fuss is we are owed a bit of bunce which could go to signing a few better players. Hunter comes across like one of the chaps running west ham. Hopefully the FA can read a contract when all is said and done

Hunter keeps quoting the contract running out on April 30th and that a player can sign for someone else 28 days after a re-engagement offer is made but doesn't state when the offer was made !
Then tries to grab the morale high ground about player payments saying 'which after last year’s payment problems at St Albans City, is rather rich.” apart from the fact those payments were nothing to do with last season and had nothing to do with the current owners or Chairman of the club but his mate Mr Gibson.
“I’m a great believer that the fans and board of St Albans City have deserved better than they have received in recent seasons.” at the hands of .......

I personally thought that Inih wasn't too bad a player and given the current management I certainly felt that this season he could have really developed into a good player. Yes he hasn't been great but I certainly thought the potential was there and given the way we have played footbal over the last few seasons, its no surprise he hasn't done well.
I think he has made a foolish move by joining boring wood and has certainly not acted in a good manner about it. The comments Danny Hunter makes seem a bit OTT for me and just because his club is above ours right now, I feel as though its all a bit of a cheap shot. I certainly don't think Ridley would make such remarks or comments and even if he did im pretty sure he would have good reason to do so!
At the end of the day its better to have players who actually want to play for the club, onwards on upwards!

I agree with most opinions above, Effiong should have stayed and learnt some more under David Howells given his excellent record of bringing young talent through into football league.
