From the Cambridge City FC web site -
Gary Roberts has boosted his Cambridge City team on the eve of the new season by adding four additional players to the squad.
Joining the lilywhites on loan for a month from Luton Town are defenders Alex Lacey and Jonathan O’Donnell. Lacey is an 18 year old centre back who has played in the under 18 and reserve side for the Hatters and did enough last year to earn a professional contract at Kenilworth Road.
O’Donnell is a 19 year old left back who signed for Luton in January 2010 from St Albans City. He too has played reserve team football for the Hatters, but broke into their first team squad when he played in an FA Cup tie against Corby Town last season.

Very good question... but I have faith in the new manager and expect that he wants to do things his way, with the players he knows and likes. Also, perhaps O'Donnell was reluctant to return under a new regime where he did not know the manager. That said, JJ is a top player, and would surely benefit any squad. I'm sure the manager has his own plans though, so I wouldn't like to comment on who he does and doesn't bring in.

O Donnell was good but very light weight, he will get pushed about easily in this rough league

Me too, actually. I think I'd take the Herts Senior Cup over 20 (or however many they've got now) consecutive fourth placed finishes any day of the week

Maybe 3 months down the line, loan signings may be useful for the manager dependent on form / injuries. Currently I would have thought that the squad of new players should be given every opportunity to show what they can do.
