It’s an exciting time at St Albans City Football Club. We have started the new season at Clarence Park in a new league, with new owners, a new manager and welcome Ian Ridley back as Chairman.
It’s also an exciting time to be a part of the Saints City Trust. Since John McGowan and Lawrence Levy took over at Clarence Park there have been a number of meetings to discuss the way in which the Football Club and the Trust can work together to bring success to Clarence Park.
The Trust have already provided over £4500 this season to provide new goal nets, training equipment for the team, repair the goal mouth turf and most recently to purchase a new mower. Managing the player sponsorship scheme has helped raise a further £1200 and alongside this we have committed to providing a regular income from our own fund raising activities.
The first fans forum with the new board of St Albans City Football Club was well attended and another is planned for early in the new season when it is hoped that new manager David Howell will be available to answer your questions. More information on this will follow.
In line with the new relationship between Trust and Club, the Trust chairman Ian Rogers has accepted an invitation to join the Football Club's Management Committee and has taken on responsibility for organising match day volunteers. If you are able to operate a turnstile, help with stewarding or sell programmes and raffle tickets then your help will be appreciated. Please speak with Ian Rogers (07714 145862) or leave your details with Barry Hilliard in the club shop on match days if you are able to help in any way. Alternatively, feel free to use the 'contact us' section of this website.
Seats on the players' coach will be on offer to several of the away games this season. Details of which games this will be available for will be announced at the ground and you will be able to book your place at the club shop.
The first of this season's ever popular Trust Quiz nights will be held in the club house on Friday October 14th and if you wish to participate in the annual prediction league competition entry forms are available from the club shop. We have several other events planned for later in the year and we will be announcing them nearer the time.
In keeping with our community objectives the Trust have joined the Clarence Park Forum, St Albans Council for Voluntary Services and have entered into a community partnership with Radio Verulam.
There are two positions on the Trust board open this year and the next article on the site will tell you how you can put yourself forward for election. If you would prefer not to be part of the board, why not join or renew your membership and help us work with the Club to bring success to Clarence Park. If you would like to know more about what we are doing then please come and speak with one of us at anytime. We will be delighted to tell you more.
Finally, the Trust board are delighted to be sponsoring Nick Jupp this season and we wish him, and the whole of the St. Albans City team, the best of luck for the coming season. If you would like to find out more about sponsoring a player then please speak with Ian Rogers.
The new Trust membership forms for 2011/12 are now available online and also at the Club Shop on match days. To join or to renew your membership, please print off the membership application form and post it with your membership fee to Saints City Trust, PO Box 1086, St Albans, AL1 9RY.
