The City Archives - London Senior Cup, Barkingside, 1969[/u]
We have a new feature to place alongside our previews this season, as one of Saints Chat's regular posters, Brummie, delves into the history books to provide us with match reports from the past. This gives a chance to walk down memory lane, or learn a little about City's past, before the next match in the present!
This time, Brummie has given us a typed report of a cup tie against Barkingside which took place in 1969.
Thanks, as always, go to Brummie for delving into the City Archives to provide us with an interesting read alongside our usual match previews!

It's always fascinating to be reminded of matches from past eras that I attended as a lad, and this and the previous Walsall report are excellent examples. The 1968-69 and 1969-70 seasons were just full of great games and great cup runs - just an enormous shame that we didn't have YouTube or anything to capture the magic for posterity. Thanks, Brummie.

Youtube wouldn't have mattered in them days as the 60s equilvent of Dave Tavener would have forgotten to switch the camera on

Saints have just had an almost certain looking penalty for a foul on Shields turned down.

HT: 1-0. A lot of anger in the home support after the penalty was turned down.

Probably one of the most entertaining games of the season. Micah Hyde, David Ijaha and Nick Jupp were colossal tonight. Have to agree with Saint about the referee; he was poor. The decision not to give a penalty for the foul on Sean Shields (apart from the other three shouts, as well) was quite unbelievable.
