Weston 2-1 up, Havant 1-0 down. Now full time in both games. Hayes & Yeading are in the bottom 3. This is getting very close and very interesting .......

For those interested in these things, Football Web Pages have a predictor that is currently sending us down but if you check the scores you will see a big factor is this Saturday. We need to win and they predict a loss... www.footballwebpages.co.uk/natsouth/league/predictedIt's now predicting us to stay up with Margate, H&Y & Basingstoke relegated.

Interesting looking at the fixtures remaining for the 5 who are realistically fighting to avoid the 2 places. As a supporter as well of a team with a history of fighting relegation battles, it's interesting to note that, by the end, generally, the teams that stay up usually didn't need as many points as fans were predicting during the run up. As a general rule that is, given that teams at the bottom are there for a reason and generally don't pick up as many as you'd be worried they might. Also that playing against teams with something or nothing to play for doesn't generally make the difference you'd think it would (pressure off those in mid-table I guess).
Taking into account games left, who's playing who, and bearing in mind there's a couple of 6 pointers in there, I'd say that the team that finished 4th bottom will probably finish with 46 or 47 points. So two wins or 6 points from 9 would probably keep us up. 3 points will probably send us down. A win, a draw and a defeat could be very close indeed.

I think a degree of misplaced optimism as well may some into it When we beat H&Y they were 13th and judging by some of the comments of their support prior to the game they felt that was probably enough

Saturdays fixtures for the relegation candidates :-
Bath City vs Eastbourne Bishops Stortford vs Margate Hayes & Yeading vs Concorde Rangers Saints vs Havant & Waterlooville Weston-super-Mare vs Whitehawk
Wins for us and Concorde would be the best results to keep Havant & Waterlooville plus Hayes & Yeading in the relegation spots and open up a gap.

Pleased to report that my original forecasts were a bit out. City gaining 49 points rather than the 42 I predicted. Key games (for me at least) turned out to be wins against Concorde, Eastbourne, Maidenhead and Dartford. Made a rare visit to CP yesterday. It was good to see a City team committed, hard working and not without a little skill. Let's hope they keep it up next season, in which case I may be visiting the Park more often. Happy Holidays All!
