Why did the club have the bright idea to market this game as The Battle On Boxing Day? It’s only a couple of seasons since we were able to scrap segregation following trouble at a previous game and there were unsavoury scenes at the recent (badly stewarded) county cup game. Who had this bright idea?

Hopefully not too many of Hemel's top boys make an appearance.

I’m sure we can cope with a bunch of 14 year olds.

I'm afraid we weren't at the races today and losing Blackman so early on and Jeffers picking up two unnecessary yellow yards certainly turned the game 180°. Yes, the referee was pitifuly poor but you have to cater for that - you are not going to get Grade 1 and 2 referees at this level.

Neither of these sides are going anywhere fast. Not worth worrying about.

Poor game overall. On a related note. The kids behind the goal were a disgrace to our club today. Mindless chants that they have copied from YouTube. I assume that the next hemel game will end up being segregated. The stewards at the club are great but don't really have the set up to manage unsocial behavior like today. The club needs to work out what to do about it. Non league football should be a place you can bring the family, I questioned it today. It also ruined any atmosphere in the first half

Well that was abject. Two very poor teams, and an absolutely dreadful referee saw us squander a winning position. We started pretty brightly and took the lead through Clark albeit a rather soft goal.
We then lost Blackman after a late challenge from Josh Hill, who wasn’t even booked. Morrall came on & whilst I appreciate he’s young, he’s not currently anywhere near the level of this division. We ended up getting pushed back & had no plan B when we couldn’t play out from the back due to Hemel pushing higher up the field (which they’ve always done under Quinton so was something we should have expected).
The two bookings for Shaun were frankly ridiculous & very much of a referee who seemed to decide he was to be the star of the show & that the bumper crowd were to go home knowing exactly who he was.
We dropped deeper and deeper and the inevitable Hemel goals came in between what looked another ridiculous decision to book Gio for ‘diving’ rather than giving a penalty.
Both sides looked far more like relegation candidates than worrying about the upper reaches of the division.
Another huge crowd which as mentioned was spoilt by some idiotic behaviour throwing flares, and then various objects at the Hemel keeper, that will only lead to fines for the club & likely segregation for upcoming games.

So very poor. Weiss was nowhere near the guy that fell over. He would have been clear on goal. Also rasulo getting booked for a ‘dive’ was a joke. Referee was Sunday league at best.

Disagree about Rasulo, he dived and was rightly yellow carded. Ref was picky but within his rights. The game was lost once Blackman got injured. His replacement looked well out of his depth and had to be replaced later on. Jeffers was a bit silly getting two soft-ish yellow cards. Once he went off then it was one way traffic. The Hemel left back was impressive but the remainder of their team were average at best. I like the way that Noble has got the team to play football, playing out from the back where possible and 'playing through the lines'. They need to move the ball more quickly though. Overall StA looked a bit lightweight against the Hemel 'adults'.

Our consistency, or lack of, depending on which way you want to look at it, in chalking up points on the board, seems to suggest that we'll end up finishing in something like a mid table position this season. It really is looking like we will finish in a mid table position with results like we've been getting. One minute we're beating the likes of Maidstone or Dartford (last week), the next we're losing against the likes of Truro and today at home to Hemel. Of course, anything can happen, but l just can't see us going up, but l think we'll do enough to avoid relegation. It sounds like, overall, it was a disappointing performance from us today, l couldn't get there today due to no Buses or trains for me to get there from where l live, but a pretty healthy crowd, albeit with a couple of idiots, no doubt on too many alcopops, spoiling things for us. As for the refereeing, we'll l can't comment as l wasn't there, but it generally evens itself out, poor refereeing is across the board in non-league, it is what it is, and you just have to put up with it.

Not much to add to the comments above. We were poor in the second half, the referee was poor all match and a few of our supporters need to grow up! As far as I know there was no trouble during or after the match but I feel we should segregate when the bigger crowds are expected. Thankfully we’re segregating for the Yeovil game, they’ll turn up in numbers.
I thought both of Jeffers bookings were soft, but the referee was card happy all game. It probably cost us the game, but we lost our way in the second half so who knows. Presumably it’s only a one match ban so he’ll only miss the return on New Year’s day.
What I didn’t understand was our first substitution. Blackman was injured so Smith moved back into midfield, that made sense. But why not bring Gauthier on at that point, a natural defender. I’ve nothing against Morrell, but as wing-back?
It)’s good to see some of our injured players returning, but while I have no fears for relegation I can’t see us making a serious push for the play-offs either.
Happy New Year everyone!

One game ban for Shaun, but will miss the Farnborough game, not the return game at Hemel. It’ll be interesting whether Noble uses this as an excuse not to play him again!

Some of the kids are an embarrassment to the club, but they are kids. Hemel are another matter. A load of middle aged guys plonking themselves in the middle of our terrace to antagonise, then charging our kids and throwing punches is pretty shameful behaviour. Judging from the size of their crowds I'm not sure how many of them even go to home games. Thought we played well first twenty minutes. Game changed when Blackman went off and we didn't have anyone to come on in midfield. Frustrating that we didn't extend harvest's loan (or find someone else if that wasn't possible). Despite that I didn't think hemel caused us that many problems. They're a very limited team. A combination of terrible keeping and even more terrible reffing lost us the game. Will have to see the highlights, but both Jeffers yellows seemed incredibly harsh and don't see how rasulo wasn't fouled for a pen. Overall don't think there's that much to worry about. It's a derby game and circumstances conspired against us yesterday like they sometimes do.
