................ it's stuff like tactics, ability to get players and playing style that people want Couldn't agree more! I just wonder when that stuff is going to happen.

Efmtftv..he at least had the players respect and they played for him !! Ask Everett,Bastock,Martin,Frater etc what they think of him as a Manager !The ten point deduction and off-field chaos with players not been paid and him not being allowed to buy a proven goalscorer made us bottom. And while i really did not want to get involved again in this debate i should point out that most of the people i have spoken to at games on the terraces and in the bar tend agree with me. You come across as bitter and aggressive towards him..let it go and move on..i have.

I think the point is, yes, he had a tough season in charge with difficult circumstances, but what is the excuse for all the other seasons?
Steve Castle resigned during his first spell when he should have been sacked long before. It was only Gibson's interest in the Oaklands deal that brough him back to City as manager.

I thiink most of us can excuse Castle for last season because there were some things outside his control affecting the team such as the points deduction and the players not getting paid.
Put yourselves in that position. You are playing for a club at which you don't know when you next pay packet is due and you're at, or near, the bottom of the table.
After all of that no amount of motivation from any manager in the dressing room would get you fired up before a big game.
BUT. As Aries has said. What are the excuses for the other seasons??.

I don't see EFM being abusive at all, I think he's just offering his opinion of Castle's opinion and backing it up with some very valid points. For what it's worth, I think Castle's efforts must be commended, but he never was a brilliant manager in any way shape or form. We should stop looking back at that sorry period and focus on the present and the future under the new manager...

Haha, only kidding. I think everyone has doubts at the minute, but my opinion is to stick with and support this manager while he's here - if a decision needs to be made, Mr. Ridley will make it. Even if you don't have 100% faith in Howell, have it in Ridley.

Alex Ferguson, one of the all time great football managers went three and a half YEARS before winning a trophy at Manchester United, and some of your want Howell sacked after three and a half months ? Let's give the guy a chance.

I don't think many people want him sacked at all I think we: A) don't want castle back B) want to believe Howell can get us out this mess

To me there are two sides to this coin. Give Howell a chance to build a team, develop a style and hope to achieve something next season in this division (Heads, if you like). Or. If we keep the current manager in place then we we'll be building a team and developing a style in a lower division, so we should get rid now while there's still time to save our sanity this season (tails). I can't get to games so I have to rely on what I read on here and the Official Website, and what I glean from the interviews Howell gives. Until the end of September I was happy to call 'Heads'. Now I think my call would be 'tails. It's not just the defeats but the manner in which they're inflicted, seemingly suggesting that there is no end in sight to the run of 'disappointing' results.
