The City Archives - Maidstone United, 1962[/u]
We have a new feature to place alongside our previews this season, as one of Saints Chat's regular posters, Brummie, delves into the history books to provide us with match reports from the past. This gives a chance to walk down memory lane, or learn a little about City's past, before the next match in the present!
This time, Brummie has given us a typed report of a match that took place in 1962 against Maidstone United. Over to Brummie for the report!
Thanks, as always, go to Brummie for delving into the City Archives to provide us with an interesting read alongside our usual match previews!

I should have added some more information to the team news. We had two MWY players making their league debuts against Leamington. I imagine that they might well feature against Barwell too. Looking forward to seeing them. Here are the MWY profiles on the SACFC.co.uk website - www.sacfc.co.uk/index.php/the-teams/midweek-youth-gg/player-profiles.htmlThe two players are: Myles Scott - Pacey no-nonsense fullback or centreback, previously with MK Dons. Made first team debut against Broxbourne Borough this season. Matt Taylor - Central/holding midfielder, won County Cups with City Youth and Harvesters, played for Boreham Wood last season. Herts County Schools U18 and AFA Rep. Then there was also a new signing. The other new name was Lansiquot. See this player profile- www.northwoodfc.com/profiles/profile-lansiquotaaron.html

So do people think that James Gray in midfield is the answer to give us some more tenacity and steel in the middle of the park?
And how about the forward pairing? Furlong is out and I'm not sure if Mo Shariff will be fit as I believe he had a somewhat complicated/intermittent back problem. So, maybe Haworth will come alongside Walker? Or maybe it will be Walker and Bakare, who seemed to do quite well together earlier in the season? What do you guys think?

I hope its the same team obviously Furlong is suspended i hope DH dosent play Haworth as we just look for the long ball all the time, i would play Shariff and Walker if Shariff isnt fit i would go with Sakho, James Gray is just what we need in the midfield hes certainley not afraid to put his foot in!

If Shariff is fit, I quite fancy seeing him play in behind Haworth as he has done with Furlong.
If not, I think I would like Sakho and Walker up front again. With some decent service, I would fancy both of those guys to score goals.
Looking at it, you can say that at least we do have some decent options up front.
I'm hopeful that we'll get the three points tomorrow, especially if we stick with Gray in midfield, as it sounds as if he is just what we need to tighten things up in the middle of the park.

Ah, oh dear!
That's our away form, of course. No images allowed -http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/Crouchaldinho_SACFC/redface.gif
The home form should be LDWWD!

I'm hoping to see Myles play and Gray in midfield to see how the team plays with this set up.

Gray is a must in midfield,he wins a lot of headers, tackles, closes down opponents and is a 'leader'. Scott did well at leamington and looks promising. But I do feel we are too adventurous playing with two wide men who do not make much of a contribution when we don't have the ball.

Thanks Brummie. Are you at CP or did you get the score from livescores?

From live scores. It now says we are losing 1-3

I want to believe 1-0 up, though it probably is more likely 3-1 down

Don't know where the usual suspects are. I suppose we have to rely on livescores

If it is 1-3 they've probably already headed for the exits. I'm still waiting for Live Scores to load

This is a pitiful result, shameful. Urgent action is required and not just a couple of glossy loan players.
We clearly need half a new team, maybe more, and someone to lead them properly and give them purpose.
