I wasn't overly concerned about the performance or scoreline yesterday. Although 6-1 was the scoreline it didn't tell the whole story. I think the frustration is a combination of past history from the old regime and the fact we could all see this coming.
What I was happy about was despite the defence being absoloutley hopeless! (I'll get to that later) For the first time this season the players did'nt give up. Jerome Walker especially! He was an inspiration, he ran hard all day long and never gave up. If you look back at the game, there were chances in the game for city. Playing with 10 men is an extremely difficult task for 10 mins of a game never mind 65 mins. Hart can't be blamed either as he had to play in a role that was un natural to him.
What was apparent though and why people are so frustrated is, the areas of weakness in the team have not been taken care of. Gray in midfield is not the answer, he needs to be playing at centre back, we also need two central defenders with a bit of pace! Along with the other attributes needed to play at this level (Moran is certainly not good enough or Toby although very good in the air lacks pace). We also need two central midfield players one in the mould of Chris O'leary and another who is not afraid to keep possesion of the ball.
In terms of strikers we dont need any! Not sure why frenchie doesnt get a game? Anyone answer that? Simon Martin has to be ahead of Haworth, he won more balls in five mins than Haworth did in 45 mins. I'd actually go as far to say our strike force could be one of the best in the league, if they had the service! The new player Henri something looks very good, not sure of his name though!
On the manager I don't know enough at this level to put forward suggestion of replacements. I am however a firm believer in giving managers time (Prime example of why is Sir Alex Ferguson). Although I can completely understand why people are seeking a new manager, I feel anyone who has to build a squad from scratch is always gonna struggle. It will be his reaction to this result which will determine his stay at Clarence Park. In terms of why we never have a set squad, we always seem to be picking up injuries and red cards. So apart from the first two months of the season I dont think changes have been by choice.
