The City Archives - Corinthian Casuals, 1970Brummie is never one for end of season complacency! He has, as usual, delved into the history books to provide us with a typed match report from the past! Over to Brummie for the report! Thanks to Brummie for delving into the City Archives throughout this season. Not only has Brummie spent time searching out reports for our entertainment but he also spends a great deal of time typing them up and his efforts are most appreciated.

Thanks Gaz. I often wonder if anyone reads the archive reports. Now, thanks to gaz, here's the proof. I usually try to pick out matches where the Saints have won. It might help for the morale for the present day team and supporters. Judging by where we finished it seems to have helped. At least it wasn't a relegation scrap we were involved in. As I said on this forum a few times. Compared to the state the club was in during the close season. Manager gone, chairman gone and the upheaval surrounding it. I would have taken the position we will finish this season. We only need minor changes to the squad and we can push for promotion next season. We should be among the favourites there I think.
If D wants me to do them next season I shall. I just hope I don't repeat some of the reports by mistake. Lol
Thanks again. Brummie

I read them as well Brummie, be nice if they had some relevance to the team or date played though rather than just a random match report but I'll still read them none the less
Hatboy - 14/1 for all 5 teams trying for the play offs to win tomorrow - which I think they'll all do

Take your point. But unfortunately there were quite a few teams we hadn't played before this season (Brackley, Swindon Supermarine, Chippenham Town to name a few). So I decided to change the format to random matches. My match reports only come up to 2007-08 so although I can do the relevant games next season it will have to be random games when we play teams for the first time.

We're 3-0 down
Leamington and Chesham are drawing 1-1 and Cambridge have slipped out of the play-offs as things stand

First half has apparently been all one way traffic, and we've barely been out our own half.

Apathy Apathy Apathy "I quote someone at the game 'No further comment needed I think"
Well that is not how I feel at this moment in time. I feel that my team, who I follow every week has badly let me down.I can take a defeat,I can take it when we play badly and lose, but what I can't stomach is a gutless performance where the players 'go through the motions' and don't appear to care. Please don't anybody else say "it was end of season,it didn't really matter, because it damn well mattered to me. I am surprised how apathetic other Saints fans were. I know that quite a few travel with the team and seem to be unwilling to vocally criticise, but while I am normally very positive I have to take a stend on this. After the match ar Cirencester James Gray on his twitter account said "this was a dead game, much prefer playing with pressure". James Gray is much admired by most supporters, and should be given a lot of credit for turning our season around with his never say die attitude, his competititiveness and his leadership. Today that was all missing, for a man forever barking out instructions and trying to 'gee-up' the team, well today he was virtually silent. The team took their lead from him and surrendered the moment they took the field of play. We could have been three down after five minutes, and that is not an exaggeration. I will need to see a video of the fifth goal because I really can't believe what I saw - it was just so appalling.
Todays result and scoreline (although half predictable )are totally unacceptable, the team let a diehard fan down, they let David Howell down, they let Ian Ridley down, but did they let themselves down ? how do they feel about their own and the collective performance? Do they care enough ? or is it off on the town its a Saturday night !
I noticed that Mr Levy was in attendence, and he should realise he should not take our support for granted.

A truly miserable day from start to finish, and the weather was like the arctic in the second half. We were truly awful and didn't seem to care. You'd have thought the players would have wanted to put up a good show against the champions, but no. Not often that i leave and head for the bar 10 minutes before the end. Manager kept players in after the game as well which meant that those of us on the coach had to wait an hour and a half after the game before leaving. Brackley's ground is pretty awful too. No idea how they're getting into the Conference (North)? with that.
