I think that the opening posts of the match threads this season are going to be a bit more basic than in previous seasons. As we progress through the opening few league games of the season, I'll start to add in some of the usual stats bits but I'm afraid it won't be quite as detailed as in past years as I was finding it a bit too time consuming at the end of last season. If anyone else wants to add some 'preview style' bits to the thread then, as always, feel free to do so! As for Brummie's archive match reports, I'm going to create a separate 'sticky' thread for them. We'll put them up on a weekly basis, each time there is a match, as per usual, but they can have their own thread at the top of the forum. People can then check that thread each week for the latest archive report.

Quite right, Brummie....
In Ice Hockey stats, an 'assist' carries the same weight as a 'goal' and IMHO it should apply in all levels of UK football as well. Perhaps 'Assists' should be recorded in the Saints programme and others might follow.

I am going to try to be very positive here. Sorry Baz! I hope that the rest of the teams in the league are as poor as Banbury and we clearly were. Some good individual performances but jury def out on some others. After game got into a heated discussion with a steward who stated that he thought we had spent loads of money during close season as we had Mr Hayles! Informed him that if he thgought that banbury had played well and should have won then he is in for a long unhappy season! Now for the positives! Didnt get lost this time, weather aws fantastic and our support made the long trip in fair numbers. But did I see that the Saints came in a hired coach? can any one confirm? As with last season, we face Cambridge in our second game. This should be more informative And good to see Brummie Dave.

I thought we were marginally the better side but not a great performance. We were lucky to escape with a point in the end as Banbury dominated the last 15-20 minutes.
I was really impressed with Lewis Toomey and thought Chris Seeby had a good game. A bit worrying though that when Ijaha came off we were a lot less effective. The two centre-backs did pretty well.
Probably best not to take too much notice of that game as it was incredibly hot, will reserve judgement on this side until after the Frome game at the earliest.
