Happy returns Yorkshirebranch, I hope you have an enjoyable evening, and many more throughout the season.
How do I think we'll go this season ? Personally I think we have made some very good signings and expect us to be in the top three, although it may take a few weeks for the new players to 'bed in',and everyone needs to show some patience. Not sure many others on here share my optimism though !

Toomey 2-0!
Excellent turn, ran with it and slotted home into the corner of the net.

Ref has given the Saints a pen for handball.
And Toomey puts it in for 3-1!

Two very poor performances at the end of last season and nothing too great about Saturday so what do you expect? Next week however...

Hemel, Hitchin and Barwell are the only 100%'s left, Barwell were a few peoples outside tip for the league

What a great game this evening. St Albans City's attendance should be much higher, it's a great club and I think we'll do really well this season. Everyone needs to bring a friend along to a game. If St Albans locals had seen this game this evening they'd be down Clarence Park every game!!!

Well I thought it was entertaining and 3 very good points against the punters' apparent choice for the title. Lots of promise. Ujah, Toomey (who was awarded MotM, although I would have given it to James Gray), Graham and especially Danny Gordon should be very pleased with their home League debuts. Sean looked threatening all night. Definitely something to build on. I had a friendly difference of opinion with someone in the stand. Cambridge had the best of the first 10 minutes or so but then we took control. Sweet strikes from Hayles and Toomey and we were 2-0 to the good and full value for it. Cambridge were 'up for it' at the start of the second half, and gave us an unpleasant 15 minutes. I was frustrated as we were letting 'em play and looked sloppy. My Learned Friend talked about "taking the sting out of a fired up Cambridge" or some such. You don't take the sting out of the opposition by falling back and letting 'em play. You take the sting out of 'em by raising the work-rate and not giving them any time on the dang ball. Ask James Gray about falling back and letting vthe opps play. I don't think that's in his playbook. Cambridge came back in the second half and it was fairly even but Saints were full value for all three points. Craig "Hammo" Hammond wasn't allowed to play and came off midway through the second half with a hammo strain. If it were down to me, I would withdraw the approach or whatever it's called. I'm not getting carried away after one game but Owleseley (sp?) has something to build on there. Bring on the Frome.

Excellent performance but a shame we couldn't close the game down completely at 3-1 or 2-0. Toomey looks a really clever player and he and Hayles seem to have developed a good understanding.
Really good to Chris Seeby fit and playing well also.
Hopefully there'll be a larger crowd on Saturday, we definitely have a good side to watch.

Good performance from the team overall I am just concerned that the energy level dipped for some periods and that let Cambridge back into the game. Lewis looks full of energy and played very well. Very good signing

Certainly an excellent performance and well deserved three points. Toomey certainly was excellent and deserved MotM. Hope he's on a contract as if he continues to play like that and score goals I suspect teams from higher leagues may notiuce. Hard to pick anyone who didn't perform well though. Here's a youthful view of the match mattsfootballview.wordpress.com. Although we did get very wet walking to the ground I'm not sure I'd have described the pitch as a quagmire though. Cheers MWS
