There is no such thing as bad publicity ? Ironically this story is getting the club more publicity than if we made the 1st round

Come on everybody this story has run its course. Let us all move onto the game on Saturday. When you've got idiots like Lee Chappell on twitter laughing about the situation the matter most certainly hasn't run its course. Players with 10x the ability than him have played for this club, and they would be disgusted with the way they are treating this club.

As far as I can see Lee was 'laughing' by making a link to the same image that Hatboy just provided the link to - lighten up...

Don't know if we can move on as the issue is only being dealt with by management tonight. management clearly knew about the situation days prior to the event and have not exactly covered themselves in glory either- maybe they thought we wouldn't notice!! But the maximum they can fine John is two weeks money and then its a case of 'cutting your nose off to spite your face ' if they bench him for several games. Difficult decisions being made. Id fine him. make him explain in press/ programme( as he too was in a difficult position) and bench him for two games then think about moving on. Who'd be a manager? Or a player when the missus has bought you a present(allegedly).

It's just a bit disappointing there's a lack of openness from the club and the player. The statement does not acknowledge the reason for Frendo's absence. I'm sure the club think they're being smart and that this is damage-limitation but it just treats the supporters like mugs. The whole thing has blown up in the local media and reached the national media. The tone of some of the national coverage has been mocking.
Yes, it's time to move on. Of course it doesn't help the team or the club to drag it on and on and I'm sure the best thing for the club is for Frendo to accept his fine, get in the team on Saturday and score a couple of goals.
But, why can't the club treat the supporters like adults who are capable of processing unpalatable information?
Instead of a statement that sounds like it was drafted by the club and run past Frendo, it would have been better to have a bit of honesty. Let's hear from Frendo why he went. Who knows, it might have been his lifelong dream to attend a Real v Barcelona match. It might well have been a gift for his birthday. Maybe he was in a genuine bind, weighing up what to do. Perhaps his heart sank when he realised there was a clash with an FA Cup match and that he had a dilemma. We don't know, of course. All we get is a statement that gives the impression it's none of our business and the club telling us to move on.
Okay, fine. If that's how the club wants to deal with things it tends to say more about how the club is run than the people running it might want to suggest. I don't know. Just my experience of a couple of decades watching how football clubs large and small are run.
All in all, a disappointing response but in all truth, it is time to move on and everyone is capable of making up their own minds how they feel about it.
