Telegraph are reporting that the government will provide a financial support package to National League clubs to allow the season to start on Saturday.

I understand that the Telegraph has today printed an article stating that the government is seriously considering offering financial compensation to all National League clubs forced to play matches behind closed doors for an indefinite period. The scale of the relief packages is as yet unknown and any payments made will certainly not take immediate effect. It seems that the increasing likelihood of a delayed start to the upcoming National League season together with the very real threat of the withdrawal of several of the league's clubs from this year's FA Cup, has forced the government to re-consider its stance. Of course, if they could only agree to allow fans into National League grounds, initially in line with crowd limits set for clubs at step 3 or lower, then the amount of financial assistance needed for the so-called 'Elite' clubs would be markedly reduced. Although a gate of just 600 at Meadow Lane, Notts County would seem like a derisory figure; it would at least provide that club with some income. As a supporter, surely you would feel safer there than at the Hendon v. Maidstone game on Saturday where the attendance is likely to top the 500 mark.

It's good if the government can provide financial assistance to clubs but you would have thought that they are handing enough money out already.
I've seen a few things at the games that I've been to that weren't great but I still can't see why crowds can't be let in to games. Summer has demonstrated that you can do most things outdoors whilst staying safe. It's much safer to meet your mates in the open at the football then in a pub and the stats show that going to a pub is very safe.

Well done the Mighty Saints for keeping fans constantly updated and in the loop and releasing statement after statement letting everyone know what's going on, it's a shining example that shows a real openness and willing to keep the fans updated whether they live in Clarence Park or Canada / Florida / Sydney and is hugely appreciated...
It's above and beyond really considering the only people who need to know anything are the spineless inner circle and even then all they are going to say is yes Lawrence

The biggest irony here is if the grant is based on last season gate receipts, well we know what happened to them

So, Saints will get x amount of money to tide them over whenever they need it, hopefully ??. Now, 2 Questions; 1) Are the Club going to stream our home matches live for x amount of money per game ? and 2) What is the situation with people like me who have already brought a season ticket ? My Question 2 could be linked with my Question 1 as if the Club are going to stream our home matches live, then season ticket holders like me should be able to stream them for free. If not we should get a refund on our season tickets.

Where 2 or more from the same household have bought season tickets, it's a bit unfair to just say they can see the streamed match for free. They would have paid far more than paying for matches individually.

Dream on lagerman. Apply for a refund & see what response you get. Leigh Page won't even have the courtesy to reply. The club only wants your money. Once its banked you've had it! Sad but true.

The whole of football was expecting it. But clearly they didn't have your crystal ball head container! But in any case, we should be having fans in, the rest of non-league are

www.thenationalleague.org.uk/national-league-statement-commencement-of-202021-s-63856In recent weeks, The National League and The Football Association have been engaged with Government to address the revenue shortfall expected by member clubs caused by the pause to the safe return of spectators. The National League has now received confirmation of significant financial grant-aid support from the Government to compensate clubs for essential revenue lost from fans not returning in October, and has communicated with its member clubs to provide reassurance ahead of the season start. The 2020/21 National League season will now commence on 3 October as planned with clubs playing ‘behind closed doors’ in compliance with the elite sport protocols.

www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.com/latest-news/31570/the-national-league-to-receive-10-million-rescue-package-from-government/amp/The National League season will start as planned tomorrow after the government pledged £10 million to help the 67 clubs play matches behind closed doors. The government said on Tuesday it would support Non-League’s top two tiers and now the National League has received confirmation of their aid. The NLP understands the £10 million grant will be split between the National League, North and South over the first three months of the season before the situation will then be reviewed, with the government committed to continuing its support beyond then if needed. A National League statement read: “In recent weeks, The National League and The Football Association have been engaged with Government to address the revenue shortfall expected by member clubs caused by the pause to the safe return of spectators. “The National League has now received confirmation of significant financial grant-aid support from the Government to compensate clubs for essential revenue lost from fans not returning in October, and has communicated with its member clubs to provide reassurance ahead of the season start. “The 2020/21 National League season will now commence on 3 October as planned with clubs playing ‘behind closed doors’ in compliance with the elite sport protocols.”

Is it a grant or is it a loan? It’s an emergency grant, apparently . By my reckoning, the figures stated work out at a total of £3,359,000 per month so it will see us through until the end of the year.

Chesterfield, Hartlepool, Notts County, Stockport, Torquay, Wrexham and Yeovil will receive £95,000 a month, with 16 other clubs receiving £84,000. 23 clubs in the National League.
7 x £95,000 = £665,000
16 x £84,000 = £1,344,000
Total = £2,009,000
Chester, Dulwich Hamlet, Hereford, Maidstone and York will receive £36,000 a month, with the majority of clubs receiving £30,000 a month. 22 clubs in National League North, 21 clubs in National League South.
5 x £36,000 = £180,000 38 x £30,000 = £1,140,000
Total = £1,320,000
Overall = £3,329,000
