I’m a little surprised. He can’t have been a high earner and David Noble likes players who run a lot?

Going by this thread, the squad is shaping up as follows:
Goalkeeper
Michael Johnson
Defenders
Jack James Michael Clark Daniel Bowry Raul de Silva Sam Brown Nathan Carlyle
Midfielders
Ryan Blackman Bobby Dunn Ben Smith
Forwards
Mitchell Weiss Shaun Jeffers Zane Banton Andronious Georgiou
The St Albans City website also shows Ben Smith and George Morrall as still being on the books.
Still a few to confirm they are staying or new people to come in, I should think.

Jack James, aged 23, right back, made 32 appearances for Gloucester City last season. In all he made just 43 appearances over a 4-year period with that club, a stay which saw him repeatedly struggle with injuries. He also had brief spells at Havant and Braintree and began his senior career at Luton Town where he made two FL starts during the 2018-19 season having graduated from their academy.

It’s interesting that the two latest signings are both full-backs. I’m guessing that Stanley and/or Moore are moving on. Also, there’s been no mention of Wiltshire. If all three have left it will be a big disappointment.
As for whether we’ve improved the squad, who knows? We won’t know until the season is at least a month old. At least some of the new signings are experienced at this level, hopefully that will balance out the inexperienced youngsters we’re likely to sign on loan from Football League clubs.

IMO, apart from Joe Neal and Chris Paul, who arguably aren't great losses to the squad, up to and including Joy Mukena, we've lost some decent players, with further possible sad departures still to follow ?? Well, apart from Blackman and Jeffers who were already contracted for next season, l suppose Nobby would have just had to sit down with all the squad to see what everybody wants to do, just like any manager has to do between seasons, but apart from anybody not being offered new contracts, you just wonder what their contract offers have been after last seasons so-nearly-got-there season, and what the playing budget for next season really is. Things us supporters are never privy to. We can only wonder ? Some of our stars from last season might've felt, understandably, that they deserved more, and that's what they may well get elsewhere, and that's likely to have been the case with the ones that have gone.

I agree with that to an extent. I would like to see Moore back again but would say that Wiltshire and Stanley are replaceable at this level. I think blackman and smith at the heart of midfield is fairly solid. We have retained our top attacking players and seem to have revamped the defense. Surprised that Joy has gone, I thought he was fairly dependable.
It's easy to forget that a big core of our team throughout the last season were loanees.

Devante Stanley was Player of the Season for 22/23 and there is a very good reason for that. For me, Stanley and Moore were way out in front of anyone else last season. It really would be very disappointing if either of them were not with us for 23/24.

If we have signed two new full backs, there isn't much chance of Stanley and Moore staying.i had a look round other non league sites to see if any other clubs had announced there signing but can't find anything, which is strange as most players seem to have signed by now.

Perhaps Stanley and Moore haven't decided yet if they are staying, or possibly Nobby is just getting cover in, but l hope they are staying as that'll be 2 more decent players gone from last seasons squad.

On the Squad page on the website James has been given the no.2 shirt and Brown no.3. I take this as showing that Stanley and Moore have both left the Club. Personally I think this is quite a blow as they were two of the more consistent performers last season. No one seems to have taken the no.4 shirt yet so maybe Wiltshire is still around. In all only 13 players appear to be registered, so I suspect Mr. Triallist will appear a lot in the friendlies.

You just can't help wondering if the player departures are because of the playing budget not being increased or even not as good as last seasons god forbid! ? The season before last we had that fantastic FA Cup run, gates went up, and last season the gates generally 1000+ and we got to the play-offs, the players are not fools, they know they've generated income and they'll have thought (well some of them I'm sure), "well, we deserve a bit more, the Club must've done well from us", so is this the way it'll always be after a good season, our best players leaving, amongst those that leave ? You can't help bigger Clubs coming in for your best players, l get that, but it's what we're doing as a Club to hang on to our best players that I'm wondering about And of course, Nobby, as he was appointed Head Coach or Team Manager, whatever you want to call it, being appointed from within, will have a good idea of the Clubs playing budget, so he will most probably not want to challenge the owners on the playing budget, rocking the boat, as he is just learning his trade, whereas a marquee appointment might well expect more from the owners, hence me saying once that Nobby was a comfortable and convenient fit for the owners. That said though, he's done well for us

Thanks Boomer you’re quite right, Moore’s number was 22 so it’s possible he’s still with us. I certainly hope so.

These days there tends to be a drip-feed approach to giving out player news pre-season. I guess it's a way of keeping people in suspense and interested. I should imagine more news to come out in the next week before psf start.

In regard to last seasons Gates. Does anyone know the actual figures. Also the figures for the league as a whole?

Ah well, there you go with Joy, he'll be getting more money at Crawley, but fair enough, we aren't going to be able to match the wages of EFL Clubs and he'll have signed professional terms, more money there just for that reason l would have thought

A bit disappointing that we are unable to keep players of their class, especially with the increased revenue of the last two seasons. I hope they don't end up at another NLS club but would be happy for them if they have managed to progress to a higher level.
