“…but it doesn’t feel like it has gone into the playing staff”.
That’s the problem. It doesn’t feel like it has, but we don’t really know. If it’s true that we’re paying Jeffers up to 1k a week then maybe that’s where any increase in the budget has gone. While I don’t expect the Club to give exact details of player’s wages it would be helpful to know if the budget has been significantly increased over the last couple of years.

Bobby Dunn has left the club by mutual consent. Seemed a good kid, but not good enough for the first team. Best of luck to the fella.

I always think that the end of September is a good time to consider how the season is shaping up so far.
We've now played 10 League games (Won 5, Lost 4) and 2 Cup games (Won 1, Lost 1) and my overall feeling is "OK so far". As a generalisation, August was poor but September was better (up until yesterday). With so many new players signed this summer I guess it was always going to take time for them all to settle in. I don't believe we'll struggle this year as some here have suggested, but I can't see us as serious promotion candidates unless we make some good signings in the winter or bring some good loanees in.
Yesterday was a big disappointment. I didn't go to see the Dickies and by the sounds of it I didn't miss much, but we have to remember that we had six players out injured (Wiltshire, Banton, James, Brown, Wyatt and Hoddle) as well as Akanbi cup-tied. We don't have the biggest squad so it was always going to be a struggle to put out a well balanced side - we couldn't even name the seven substitutes we're allowed in the Cup. Several of these injuries seem long-term so I hope a couple of additions will be made sooner rather than later.
Off the pitch, I still can't agree will those on this site who feel the owners are only interested in selling beer and burgers and I'm not going to make sarky comments about the "Clarence Park Experience". The crowds are continuing to increase and our profile in the City as as high as I've ever known it and this can only be good. I've criticised the owners more than once in recent years for various decisions made but not on this. We all want promotion but much as I enjoyed 2006/07 in a perverse kind of way I don't want us going up again until we have a fighting chance of staying up. It's important we get the Club in "the right state" first. However, we've finished in the top ten for six out the last seven seasons and expectations are rising. If we don't get promoted in the next couple of years then the current momentum could be difficult to maintain. Large crowds and a good match-day experience are not enough by themselves, just ask Dulwich Hamlet!
Here endeth the sermon. COYS!

All fair comments Saint68, with Kyren Wiltshire thou, even thou he's not listed in the Squad, at least l didn't see his name mentioned when l last looked at our sQuad list, presumably its cos obviously he's long term injured, he is still with us thou, isn't he ?

I believe that although Wiltshire isn't under contract with us this season the Club is monitoring his progress. Hopefully he'll re-sign as soon as he's fit.
I've no idea about Akinola, I presume he's left. Does anyone know?

Well, let's see what Partington is like, althou I'll have to reserve judgement on him until the next Home game, if he does play today against Farnborough today, as l won't be at the game. We seem to be buying players that, well, I've never heard of anyway, in Akanbi and now Partington, as opposed to what we did last season and hit the loan market well, but if that's the direction the Club wants to go in, then so be it, we need bodies in, one way or another, the way the injury situation is going.

Did l read it right that Hamid is a midfielder? If so, could this mean that in the absence of any fit Central defenders, Blackman will play there and Hamid will go into midfield?

Partington didn’t feature on Tuesday, my hope is that he’ll play today, presumably alongside Gauthier.
I’m happy we’ve signed an attacking midfielder, the service to the striker(s) has been poor recently, but I was hoping for a central defender. Surely there’s some EFL team who have someone who needs some experience.

Surely there’s some EFL team who have someone who needs some experience. Whoever plays today, we need our patched up side to stand up and be counted, and to do the job today. Right now, I'll take a draw vs Maidstone today. My only hope is that we get back to a fully fit sQuad as possible, as l just worry that we are sending out players with existing minor injuries just to make up a team. I may be wrong in thinking that, but that's the way it feels to me.

www.stalbanscityfc.com/morrall-and-mcdonald-join-the-eagles/We can confirm George Morrall and Charlie McDonald have joined Bedford Town on loan. George began the campaign on a short-term loan spell at Isthmian League Premier side Cheshunt F.C, making 6 appearances and scoring 1 goal for the team before re-joining The Saints squad back in early September. Since then he’s made ten league appearances with his most notable contribution coming against Chippenham Town with a stunning late strike which saw him win Goal of the Month. Morrall will be joined by Charlie McDonald, who signed for The Saints following his departure from QPR. The young midfielder has found game time hard to come by with just one appearance for the senior side to his name. We’d like to wish both young players the best as they head to Bedford Town in search of regular playing time in order to aid their development.
