So, crowd numbers have increased at Clarence Park and yet coupled with money from commercial activities we still cannot compete and keep hold of the likes of Devante Stanley. It’s not like he has done a Tafari Moore and moved up a league. The squad seems very small going into the pre season games. Maybe all the spare cash goes on paying Jeffers? We cannot be held to ransom by a player - if he was asking for too much - good riddance, thank you for your services. If someone else is willing to pay it then you could argue that the market rate for the player. Any judgement that it is "too much" is very subjective. Clubs are ruthless enough with players when they are surplus to requirements so you can't blame players for acting as rational economic agents.

If the player is asking for too much cash…I.e. more than we are willing to spend, we would see that as too much and higher than our valuation.
Good luck to him at Havant.

We are paying Shaun Jeffers £900 a week + £100 a goal, if anything our valuations are unbelievably high.

We are paying Shaun Jeffers £900 a week + £100 a goal, if anything our valuations are unbelievably high. Do you know that for a fact? Are our valuations consistent? The fact we may overvalue a single player does not mean we cannot undervalue others. If our valuations were 'unbelivably high' than why do any players ever leave us? My basic point is if you look at our gates and the growth of our commercial income we should be able to complete financially with vast majority of teams in the league. The fact we lost players and failed to replace them with proven quality suggests to me we cannot. There is no point having a go a players, 'good riddence' is clearly a negative comment. Rather, questions need to be asked of our owners

The gates have been unbelievable, but if the playoffs was anything to go by, 50%+ are children who are more than likely getting in for free. (These same children who were embarrassing during the playoffs I might add) There’s competing financially with the league … but as said we can not be held to ransom by a player.

Hopefully. I have to say I like the strategy of getting in defenders early and permanently. I think that’s the basis of a good team at this level and where we’ve struggled in the past. Fingers crossed we can then supplement that with less tried and tested players in attacking areas, perhaps the odd loanee.

Callum Adebiyi has joined Chesham Utd. I'm surprised he's ended up there, unless Chesham are paying good wages

Dylan Fage signs.
Coincidentally, he used to play for the other club I support. He’s an attacking right full back or right midfielder.
We were always told how promising he was, but the consistency was never there. Would have one good game then five mediocre games. He could do well in this league.

I was told Dawson has left and joined Berkhampstead I have no idea where Romeo Akinola is, he spent the entire of last season being announced as being injured in the matchday squad, I've already covered what I think has happened to Whilshire
I think the signings yesterday looked decent enough, I was speaking to LL pre-match and he was purring over our scouting and recruitment network now, so time will tell

Ben's a good signing, well, hopefully he's still got it ?? But if he still lives in Sandridge, St Albans will be handy for him

We're suddenly well stocked again in the defensive areas. Wyatt to play more advanced?

The signing of the close season by a distance. A brilliant acquisition.

Agreed, he was playing Nat League last season, albeit in a relegated team, so clearly still has it
The young lad from QPR is an interesting one, hopefully another Aiden Francis-Clark, he's never played a senior game by all accounts, it was the same with Aiden

Well, judging by Noble's post match interview after the Maidenhead game, it doesn't sound like there's many more to come in, if any. That begs the Question, any loans to start with? Not needed by the looks of things, but as time goes on, we may well do, and l hope, when the time comes, we do as well in that department as we did last season.

It's disappointing to lose Stanley and Moore which begs the question, where has all the cup run money gone ? all that money from the cup run and we still can't keep our top players unless we were being blown out of the water. Me personally thinks the club are happy to stay at NLS level for the foreseeable at least. I can understand if the owners are more interested in improving the ground.

Me personally thinks the club are happy to stay at NLS level for the foreseeable at least. I can understand if the owners are more interested in improving the ground. Well, as l said before, we'll never ever know what the playing budget was exactly, and what our players were demanding. It really comes down to 2 things really, the budget not increasing from last season or possibly being lower, or the players in Question that have left, simply just asking for more and/or too much for the Club to afford. But there has to be a budget, l completely get that. The owners will have an idea of just how much it would cost us if we got promoted and every thing that it would involve, and l will always believe that deep down, as well as the excitement of what promotion to the NL would bring, there's just that little bit of fear from the of what it would cost the Club as well. So, all in all, l don't think the owners are that bothered in competing above NLS level to be honest at least in the short term. But l think they are right in getting certain things right off the field of play and making us as sustainable as possible, if that is what's utmost in their thinking

www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giorgio-rasulo/profil/spieler/249933New guy in. Doesn't look like it's clear on the Twitter feed. This says he plays center mid but I assume he is the guy who scored a hat trick the other night Appears to have a good pedigree. Decent signing. I think our squad looks pretty solid for the season

Saw him play for Banbury last season. Excellent for them, technical player we’ve so far struggled to recruit. Probably not as attacking as those stats (and his hat trick) suggest, but a great signing.
