Hatboy, I wasn't being cocky, more mischievous! Lots of comments post the Gosport shambles about Allinson should go. Don't think anyone made a suggestion as to whom they'd replace him with? Though I maybe wrong. I spent some of the train journey back afterwards texting my mate, who's a lifelong Saint, about it being worse than the Truro game we'd been to. His comment was Allinson should go, but when I said who'd replace him, the only name he could come up with, was Devonshire at Maidenhead. .... Andy Leese (just left Chesham).

You are. When have you seen the 'other' manager quoted in the local newspapers or done an interview to camera? There is only one manager - James Gray. All of his public utterances give no indication of any coherent strategy or team pattern of play. What can you expect of an ex clogger centre half? He hasn't got a clue. On the other hand the other half of the management team has some management/coaching experience. Perhaps he ought to be given sole charge of the team... if he wants it.

Yep, we are well and truly in a relegation scrap. The last time we went down with Steve Castle we had a lot of off field instability and the points deduction. Whereas this season we seem to be spiralling down from a quite stable position of building support through slowly increasing crowds and owners that have put a lot of effort and money into the club. Very worrying - didn't see this coming back in August. All very predictable when you have an incompetent manager. A team always reflects its management.

Yes as I have said, PCP only care about boosting the value of their homes. The fact one of their supporters cited they pay a large amount of tax demonstrates the shallowness of their organisation. They are parasites. St Albans is being gentrified for people who have no affiliation to the area. These same people are trying to bring down the club. Hmmm ... so eloquent. OK for how long do you have to live in an area to be considered a local? Beginning to look like characters from the film Deliverance. BTW the cricket club is not wealthy but does provide sport for 250+ youngsters throughout the summer at CP.

Sadly cannot see this happening with the Saints. No support from the council and also the parasites from PCP. A great shame. Parasites? I don't think so. Probably pay more tax than most of us. CP is something to be treasured and I'm sure with a little creative thinking a viable football club can thrive there.

What is being said about CP is no doubt true but the flip side surely is that St Albans effectively get to use CP for a token rent- that it generates relatively few costs? The construction of new ground with a heavy emphasis on non matchday commercial activities is a double edged sword. In a sense the FC's viability becomes linked to the success of a broader business operation- it can work but it can fail. Also the ready availability of a low cost ground has, I think, played a key role in sustaining the club through crisis. I also accept that given St Albans FC is a privately owned (legally at least) for profit firm renting the ground from a charity for a peppercorn rent that there has to be a limit to the development of commercial operations on the CP site but I just wish the trust would apply this limit flexibly. I don't image many will agree on this point but I also argue that given its central location the large majority of St Albans residents live within 2 miles of CP and can thus (assuming they not disabled or elderly) walk to CP in a reasonable time. Could you not therefore argue that if St Albans is a bit more expensive than other clubs with more modern less central grounds that this is compensated for by the savings that home fans receive through lack of transport costs relating to the location? For me at least football for £14 at CP would effectively be quite a bit cheaper than £12 on a greenfield site (which I would oppose anyway as I think the erosion of greenbelt is threatening St Albans' identity as a distinct entity). A top post, totally agree.

Hmmm perhaps Jimmy Gray is not the saviour after all. Neanderthal player ...neanderthal manager? How many goals has Frendo scored from open play? Not that many I'd guess. I get the impression that Frendo is a bit 'billy big b******s'. Maybe he has a more negative than positive effect on the team.

At the forum, Gray said that the chairman and owners before the season began had agreed with the managers that next season would be the season where promotion would be achieved (Automatically), so not only does that make this season appear even more impressive, but also show that the owners are in it for the longer term and realise time is needed. Knee jerk comments suggesting the owners wont stay around are just unnecessary and a bit silly, especially at a time when things are looking very healthy both on and off the pitch. Why next season? Why is time needed? With relatively little additional investment City could have been fighting it out the automatic promotion spot with Hemel. It's so easy spending other people's money isn't it?

... What does surprise me from reading this thread is the lack of culpability being placed on the shoulders of the goalkeeper. I presume this is because everyone regards Bazza in very high esteem. Paul Bastock has served this club tremendously well in the past, and is also an absolute gent, and someone whom I like as an individual, but he cannot be above criticism. I haven't seen the match video but from my viewpoint he was shockingly at fault for both goals, and for those not in attendance they were both left wing corners. The first one landed smack in the middle of the six yard box and he stayed rooted to his line. Burnham, Hungerford and Banbury all spring to my mind. Presumably Stourbridge would have had somebody watching last night, and if so they will be firing in crosses at every opportunity on Saturday. He has already gift wrapped them three points when they visited Clarence Park in September with an injudicious kick at one of their players. I wonder if the management might bring Coulton into the starting X1 early ! Enough of that speculation, it is time to rally around the flag, and get behind the boys at Stourbridge. COYS So I said much the same thing a couple of weeks ago and some 'resident' of this forum asked if I was joking!!! Whilst jettisoning Bastock you might also consider moving on Richard Graham, he is a passenger. Then replace both CBs and you might have a team to get promoted. Questions need to be asked of the management who continually select these players when they are not good enough. Either their judgement of players is wrong or their coaching abilities are inadequate.

The only possible reason why the ref didnt send the goalie off (that i can see) is that he was going away from the goal at the time he was challenged, which is nonsense and was a definite red. The sliding challenge on Comley is an absolute shocker. OK so I'll give you an impartial view. 1. The handball wasn't deliberate so no penalty 2. The goalkeeper should have been sent off. 3. The tackle on Comley was bad and borderline yellow/red so yellow was understandable.

... And nat038, get real. As someone in the thread said earlier, this is Step 3 and the players are, for the most part, part-time. If it isn't to your liking, you can always settle back in the armchair and watch the likes of Barca or Cruzeiro. Most Man U 'fans' have been doing that for years . COYS No images allowed -http://i44.tinypic.com/34o7ceq.jpg Thanks for the warm welcome, I'll take your advice and spend my £12 elsewhere.

... Entertaining game, thought we maybe could have nicked it in the last ten, but a good result not to lose against one of the pace setters. I see Hemel won 5-3, huge game on Tuesday 21st jan. Blimey if you thought that was an entertaining game then I'd hate to see a dull one! Paid a rare visit to CP and the usual fare was served up. Poor passing, poor control...even Comley had an off day. Chesham were by far the better team although looked dodgy at the back on the rare occasions that SACFC got at them.

Pathetic was a bit strong but he had no chance of getting out the way of that! It wasn't as if he deliberately saved it. Correct. The laws say that the handball has to be deliberate.

Their player seems to be watching the ball and runs into Graham. ... Not so. Graham clearly obstructs the player but does not raise his arm. Booking at best.

Is Monday night Football actually benefiting the players. Some are starting to look heavy legged after playing on a Saturday. Will there really be that many fans who would rather stay in on a Tues/Wed to watch overpaid primma donnas rolling arround ? I'm sure the players would rather play on a Tue/Wed. The only justification for playing on a Mon is to get better gates, on the evidence so far it hasn't worked. The biggest issue is the cost. Cut the price to £8 and a lot more people would attend. I read somewhere that you can watch Bayern Munich for £15!
